Tech Ladies Austin - Winter 10/20s

  • Companion Gallery, located in The Wright Bros. Brew & Brew event space ( (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

For our Winter event, we're going to cover many of the topics you all asked for during our Fall event (on the post-it prompts). This time around, we'll get together on a Wednesday (most preferred day on the prompts) and get into 10/20 discussions around careers, life, design, and development.

How 10/20s work:

10/20s are groups of breakout discussions that allow attendees to move around to different topics or different focuses on those topics. Each 10/20 starts with a topic prompt, and the group can openly discuss it for 10 minutes. At the 10 minute mark, the group if they want to continue the conversation for another 10 minutes or end the conversation and move about the room to the next topic. You can choose to sit in on all sessions on one topic or move around to all four. Suggested prompts will be provided but the group can decide where the conversations go.

*Webinar* Self-Promotion to Supercharge Your Career w/ Dr. Claudia Consolati

Many women have a negative perception of self-promotion. We are not comfortable talking about ourselves, we don’t want to sound like we are bragging or we like to think of ourselves as team players as opposed to self-serving individuals. And, yet, in today’s marketplace self-promotion is essential to career success. We live in a world where being smart, working hard, and following the rules is not enough to get noticed and thrive.

In this webinar we will reframe what self-promotion really is—a strategy for helping others while communicating your value—and we will dig deep into tactics and techniques to 10x your self-promotion efforts to massively boost your career and visibility.

*Webinar* Invest Your Money Like a Bo$$ w/ Meg Bartelt

Do you feel you should be investing, but you don't know how to start? Are you contributing to your 401(k), only to stumble when it comes to investing that money? Are you overwhelmed by all the opinions about how to invest "right"?

The financial industry wants you to think that investing is too complicated for you to do yourself. They make a lot of money off that lie. If you understand and follow just a few fundamental rules of good investing--and a couple considerations specific to being a woman in the tech industry--you'll be ahead of most of your peers...especially the ones who treat investing like a game.

Ultimately, investing is simply one more tool to strengthen your finances, and strong finances give you choice. You have the smarts to invest well. You need the confidence that you can do it yourselves. Join me for this webinar and gain the basic knowledge that will give you that confidence!
