AV & Conferencing Systems Engineer
Job Description
Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking an experienced AV & Conferencing Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert to help provide seamless & efficient technology experiences to HRTers regularly and reliably.
As an AV & Conferencing Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the daily operation, support, and administration of AV (audio-visual) and UC (unified communications) technology in our APAC and EMEA offices; this requires extremely close teamwork and global collaboration with Enterprise Tech and People Operations counterparts. The ideal candidate for this role is accustomed to working (and thriving) in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for APAC/EMEA audio-visual issues and a resource for company-wide AV/UC information (both reactively and proactively)
- Develop and refine both hardware automation and software integrations for AV/UC
- Provide technical support and coordination assistance for live and hybrid events
- Perform regular room checks and preventative maintenance on AV/UC equipment, documenting and escalating issues as necessary
- Assist with new equipment evaluation, systems design, and regional builds, installs, and refreshes
- Deliver feedback on existing technology (pain points, user errors, etc.)
- Respond to relevant support tickets and service requests
- Collaborate regularly with third-party development teams and internal stakeholders
- Create and maintain thorough and accurate documentation on supported systems and platforms
- Consult on third-party AV requirements and contracts for offsites, large events, etc.
- Serve as a systems administrator for supported UC platforms
Qualifications
- Familiarity with operation and design principles of commercial audio-visual (AV) and unified communications (UC) systems with control processors, touch panels, microphones, video-wall displays, matrix switchers, cameras, VTC codecs, audio DSPs, projectors, etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot audio/video signal flow calmly, efficiently, and often independently
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to solve intricate problems with creative solutions
- Advanced knowledge of networked systems/topology, end user hardware, telephony/VoIP, and Windows/Mac/Linux platforms as they relate to AV/UC
- Proficiency interpreting and modifying schematic documents, detail/elevation drawings, etc
- You get excited about release notes, firmware updates, and learning about lesser-known features in a well-written manual
- Flexibility to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies as they emerge
- Ability to move or transport up to 50lbs, climb ladders, and crawl under installed furniture as needed

- Video/audio editing and post-production
- Enterprise telephony administration
- Zoom Rooms operation and management
- Crestron Programming (SIMPL, S+, S#)
- Extron/AMX/Savant system design
- Knowledge of AVoIP protocols and best practices
- Lua or Python programming for audio-visual
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON
- Rack fabrication, cable termination
- Basic AutoCAD & Revit
- Cisco CCNA or similar networking baseline
- DSP configuration/scripting (QSC, Biamp, Shure, BSS, etc.)
- Live sound mixing, wireless frequency management, room EQ, etc.
