Job Description

Who You Are

===============

We are seeking a Group Product Manager (GPM) to transform Payments from a core competency into a productizable suite of capabilities. You have deep Payments industry experience, demonstrable financial acumen and a strong product vision informed by a depth of knowledge in fintech industry trends and trajectories.

You have a passion for engendering organizational change through transformative software. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, and you’re ready to refine a strategy that includes building customer-facing Payments products, as well as creating the platforms, services, and APIs that will unlock opportunities across the business.   You know how to be an internal vendor and to provide service-oriented customer-support; but you also want to build virtual wallets, payments dashboards, and other financial solutions like earned-wage access.

As a strategic leader, you will define the vision and roadmap for a cluster of teams, bridging company mission and goals to develop a business rooted and user-centric roadmap. As a people leader, you will mentor other Product Managers and motivate your teams around a true north. As an executional leader, you will be accountable for the delivery of your team’s roadmap in collaboration with design, engineering and operations partners and with a bias toward short, iterative cycles of learning and value creation.

Your passion and expertise in Payments is unparalleled . Having learned the hard way that reconciliation and exception handling are just as important as RTP and FedNow, you know the devil’s in the details when it comes to money movement. You’re fully prepared to roll up your sleeves and dig into those details, leading both your reports and your scrum teams by example. You have strong technical acumen and experience with modern service-oriented and API architectures.

What You Will Work On

-------------------------

  • Partner with engineering, design and operations to set product vision and strategy for Payments at Justworks across the following three time horizons:

+ Over the next year you will evolve our Payments API and build embeddable experiences on top of it, creating compound value across a variety of standalone Justworks products using them

+ Over the next three years, you’ll own and drive the vision behind net-new revenue opportunities with Payments at their core

+ Over the next five years you’ll steer a broader vision for how Payments will mature to support the evolving needs of small businesses under 100

  • Build backend capabilities and end-to-end products with a clear point-of-view of what features should be embeddable vs. standalone vs. customer-facing
  • Drive adoption of APIs that will centralize money-movement across Justworks applications, working with internal customers to iterate in response to their feedback
  • Develop a rigorous, data-driven product culture across a growing team, ensuring that craft is balanced with customer obsession and business orientation
  • Create frameworks for your cross-functional team to prioritize and execute against capabilities, end-user features and internal tools - balancing customer needs with business goals
  • Bring your solutions to market through ownership of the full product lifecycle: problem identification, solution design, spec, implementation and validation
  • Define and measure OKRs that align with Justworks’ broader business objectives
  • Create a cross-functional and collaborative development process optimized for your domain
  • Continuously prioritize needs of customers and internal stakeholders, and reassess as needed
  • Communicate product priorities to leadership and stakeholders across the organization, making the case with evidence-based decision making
  • Develop, mentor, and lead a dynamic team of Product Managers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

How You Will Do Your Work

-----------------------------

As a Group PM, how results are achieved is paramount for your success and ultimately result in our success as an organization. In this role, your foundational knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes are anchored in the following competencies:

  • Customer focus - You seek to deeply understand the jobs-to-be-done of your customers - internal and external - and can turn that understanding into customer-centric solutions.
  • Business insight - You think two months, two quarters, and two years into the future simultaneously. Your roadmaps help business leaders make effective decisions about tradeoffs and prioritization.
  • Dynamic Range- You know the difference between competencies, capabilities, platforms, products, and businesses, but you love them all. You can stretch from a ten thousand foot view down to ground level.
  • Teamwork and communication - You work best in teams and forge them through relationship-building, listening, empathy and transparent, collaborative approaches.
  • Results-driven - You’re enthusiastic about data-driven performance, measurable OKRs, and meaningful KPIs. You consistently achieve results, even under difficult circumstances. You are comfortable executing at a fast pace and pushing legacy partners to meet that pace.

In addition, all Justworkers focus on aligning their behaviors to our core values known as COGIS. It stands for:

  • Camaraderie - Day to day you can be seen working together toward a higher purpose. You like to have fun. You’re an active listener, treat people respectfully, and have a strong desire to know and help others.
  • Openness - Your default is to be open. You're willing to share information, understand other perspectives, and consider new possibilities. You’re curious, ask open questions, and are receptive to thoughts and feedback from others.
  • Grit - You demonstrate grit by having the courage to commit and persevere. You’re committed, earnest, and dive in to get the job done well with a positive attitude.
  • Integrity - Simply put, do what you say and say what you'll do. You’re honest and forthright, have a strong moral compass, and strive to match your words with your actions while leading by example.
  • Simplicity - Be like Einstein: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.”

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in product management or related technical leadership roles
  • Minimum 5 years in the Payments space with at least 3 years defining, building and integrating systems
  • Minimum 3 years experience managing a high performing team of Product Managers
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts including systems design, data architecture and the like
