About The Role
SmartThings is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join our Product Operations team. Collaborating closely with leaders across the organization, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and leading new data analytics initiatives at SmartThings. You will be responsible for leveraging data to gain valuable insights, power data-driven decision-making, and enhance the overall performance and user experience of our smart home solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Samsung's Big Data Center and other global data teams to power our product decisions by enhancing existing datasets, reporting, and dashboards.
- Act as a data-driven thought partner to our Product Managers and Product leadership team. Educate our teams to help us ask better questions, interpret findings more effectively, and drive informed decision making.
- Develop or enhance self-service data tools to power insight, discovery, and communication. Conduct individual analyses when needed to drive business objectives, and facilitate training.
- Build and execute on a roadmap for data enhancements to align with SmartThings' product vision and business objectives. Understand and communicate the building blocks needed, identify any gaps, and drive progress toward best-in-class practices.
- Support data collection, governance, and compliance initiatives in partnership with teams across SmartThings globally. Identify and collect relevant data from different sources, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Partner with global security teams to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and data governance policies while handling sensitive information and conducting analyses.
- Provide technical leadership by staying up-to-date with industry best practices, trends, and emerging technologies to continuously improve our approach.

What You Bring On Day One (Required Qualifications)
- Proficiency in data analysis tools/programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or similar, and experience with data visualization
- Strong analytical mindset, customer orientation, and curiosity

- Ability to shift effectively between detail-oriented work and big-picture thinking
- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, or similar role

- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Superset, Power BI, Tableau)

About The Team SmartThings is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to be the technical leader on a newly formed SRE team whose mission is to drive platform reliability and operations improvements across critical areas such as availability, latency, efficiency, capacity, change management, monitoring and incident response. This is a unique and exciting opportunity that will fill in a critical platform need by providing technical leadership and expertise at a platform level to complement service team operations and practices while also helping to guide the SmartThings operational practices and culture through team level engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and metrics
- Work with global engineering stakeholders to establish a higher level platform dashboard that will allows a shared centralized view of key platform metrics
- Work closely with service teams to build and maintain an SLO framework
- Support critical hardware and software releases and product launches
- Create, monitor, and maintain platform monitors and assist in triage
Actively participate and improve the SmartThings Incident Commander Group
Evaluation, development, and help with focused adoption efforts
- Help onboard teams to new ideas, concepts, or priorities. This will cover a diverse set of topics, but examples of this would include new best practices identified from looking at post mortems, new cross team cost saving ideas, new deployment techniques, or network architecture
- Influence the product architecture and roadmap to make sure the customer-experienced reliability is always a key consideration for new product features
Best practice development and evaluation
- Review post mortems and look for areas of optimizations, patterns we should focus on, and work to correct these by working with teams or building company wide best practices
- Facilitate a community of practice for operations and site reliability concepts to extend the capabilities of service teams through a culture of trust and team empowerment
- Mentor engineers on Site Reliability Engineering principles, practices and tools

What You Bring On Day One (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering or similar experience
- Awareness of, and ability to reason about, modern distributed software design patterns and cloud systems architecture, including microservices, containers, load-balancing, queuing, caching etc
- Expertise in analyzing and fixing large-scale distributed systems
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies
- Programming experience with an object oriented programming language
- Proficiency in Linux Operating Systems
- 5+ years of experience working on highly available, fault tolerant distributed systems
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to build trust and influence others
- 8+ years of related professional experience
Desired Skills
Experience working across time zones, geographies, languages, and cultures.
Experience working in the IoT Industry
Experience leading change initiatives or coaching cloud operations
A deep understanding of web technologies and site reliability engineering (SRE).
Experience as a technical lead
Experience working in a multi-cloud service provider environment
