The Dropbox Design & Research Team creates experiences that make work feel effortless. We're problem solvers and innovators, combining research insights with thoughtful design to craft solutions that make users’ lives easier. Through iterative design and deep user research, we uncover, understand, and solve fundamental problems that impede enlightened work. Role Description

The Dropbox Core team is seeking a Senior Product Designer to craft exceptional product experiences that delight our customers. With a strong foundation in design craft and quality, you’ll join a team dedicated to enhancing the Web experience—a critical platform that drives the highest traffic for Dropbox. Your mission will involve delivering impactful UX and visual improvements that elevate feature adoption, utilization, and retention for key functionalities most valued by our customers.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers to transform business challenges, product hypotheses, and feature requests into tangible, quantifiable, and solvable customer problems. You’ll be empowered to design effective solutions and deliver elegant user experiences through close partnership with cross-functional peers. Additionally, you’ll work hand-in-hand with Engineering to bring these solutions to life, ensuring a seamless and high-quality execution.

Responsibilities

  • Problem Framing: Thoroughly analyzing and translating feature requests, product hypotheses, or broader business challenges into clear, actionable, and solvable customer problems. 
  • Solution Generation: Developing a wide range of potential solutions to address a given customer or business problem. 
  • Interaction and Visual Design: Elevating promising solutions by refining them into their most intuitive, elegant, and user-friendly form. This involves balancing simplicity with functionality, ensuring the final design not only meets customer needs but also aligns with the highest standards of aesthetic and interaction quality.
  • Collaboration: Building strong partnerships with Product Management and Engineering teams to align on the most valuable and feasible ideas. This includes facilitating open communication, integrating many perspectives, and co-creating solutions that maximize impact while staying within technical and timeline constraints.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in UX-related roles.
  • Exceptional craft and attention to detail in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping.
  • Proficiency with prototyping tools to showcase complex features and web flows.
  • Proven track record of launching and iterating on products with a focus on business and customer impact.
  • Strong customer obsession with extensive experience leveraging UX research for foundational insights and iterative design.
  • Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional partners, including designers, researchers, PMs, data scientists, and engineers.
  • Experience spanning the full product lifecycle, from discovery to launch and iteration.
  • Expertise in designing for mature products, balancing incremental improvements, visionary goals, and step-change enhancements.
  • Ability to measure impact through both quantitative metrics and qualitative insights.
  • Ownership mindset with a proactive approach to driving projects and teams forward.
  • Deep expertise in using and contributing to design systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for a specialized customer audience in an SaaS environment
  • Examples of redesigning large portions of mature products in a large, matrixed team

$176,000—$238,000 USD

US Zone 3

$156,400—$211,600 USD

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual salary/OTE (On-Target Earnings) for this role, subject to change.

Please note, OTE are for sales roles only.

Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. We target most new hire offers between the minimum up to the middle of the range.

Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current US Zone locations are as follows:

  •  US Zone 1: San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro
  •  US Zone 2: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington DC metro, and West Virginia (DC metro)
  •  US Zone 3: All other US locations
