About Us

UnionHub is a fast-growing SaaS company delivering cutting-edge insurance management solutions. We’re on a mission to simplify complex workflows and improve outcomes through intuitive, well-crafted technology. We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer to join our product team and help elevate the end-to-end experience of our platform. This is a unique opportunity to work on meaningful problems, contribute to a growing design system, and shape how users interact with tools that drive real-world impact.

Our Core Values Are

Simplicity | Security | Innovation | Accessibility | People-Centric Culture

Key Responsibilities

Design & Prototyping

  • Design user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes in Figma.
  • Confidently use advanced features like auto layout, component variants, libraries, and asset management.
  • Contribute to and maintain our internal design system for scalable and consistent design.

User-Centered Problem Solving

  • Engage directly with users and internal teams to understand pain points and discover root issues.
  • Translate feedback and qualitative data into actionable design improvements.
  • Balance empathy with analytical thinking to solve complex UX challenges.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers and engineers to bring ideas to life.
  • Understand how React-based components are built and how designs transition from Figma to code.
  • Contribute scrappy, technically-informed ideas to enhance UX—such as A/B tests, tracking integrations, or use of open-source tools.

Continuous Learning & Improvement

  • Stay curious and engaged with new tools, patterns, and UX trends.
  • Suggest smart enhancements to improve user experience across products.
  • Help elevate design quality and culture across the team.
  • Approaches feedback—whether positive or critical—as a tool for growth and is able to iterate quickly based on input from diverse stakeholders.

Who You Are

Has a bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, or a related field required. Equivalent practical experience may be considered for exceptional candidates. Demonstrates a growth mindset through continuous learning, user feedback integration, and iterative design improvements. 2+ years of proven experience in a UX, product design, or operations role within a company. Expert-level proficiency in Figma, especially with design systems. Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their skills as part of the interview process through a hands-on exercise and/or portfolio review. Detail-oriented, analytical, and naturally inquisitive—you pull threads until you get to the core problem. Technically fluent enough to understand the DOM, how React components function, and how engineers build from designs. Open to experimentation and quick iterations using technical tools and data-driven insights. Strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, particularly when working with product managers, developers, and other designers. Highly responsive and able to provide timely input, as project timelines, agile sprints, and user feedback loops often depend on quick, clear communication. Receptive to transparent feedback and values open communication, with a team-oriented mindset and an understanding that all contributions align toward a shared goal: improving and simplifying the customer experience. Must live within a reasonable commuting distance and have reliable transportation to be in-office at least 1 day per week.

Portfolio Requirements

Your Portfolio Should Demonstrate

  • End-to-end product thinking, including problem discovery, user insights, and iteration.
  • Well-structured UX flows and rationale behind design decisions.
  • High-fidelity UI examples with the use of Figma components and design systems.
  • Collaboration across disciplines—include examples where you worked closely with PMs, engineers, or data teams. (Optional) Include case studies that highlight outcomes, metrics, or learnings.

What This Role Does Not Include

  • Visual design work that lacks a systems thinking approach.
  • Full-scale front-end development (but you should understand how your work connects to it).

Why Join Us?

  • Work on meaningful design challenges with real impact on users’ lives.
  • Be part of a collaborative, thoughtful, and curious team.
  • Enjoy a hybrid work model with purposeful in-office days to support work-life balance and team connection.
  • We offer a competitive salary, 401(k) match, annual discretionary bonus eligibility (typically up to 10% of base salary; not guaranteed) and open PTO.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, employer-paid supplemental insurance options, technology allowance, parental leave, and more!
  • Room to grow within a scaling product organization.
