The data & AI platform for modern finance.

What is Spade?

Financial institutions process billions of transactions every day across cards, ACH, wires, and third party aggregators. But most of that data is difficult to use. Descriptions are inconsistent, merchant names don’t match, and categories vary by payment type.

Spade is a data and AI platform that turns messy transaction strings into structured, verified records — and gives teams the tools to act on it across authorization, attribution, analytics, and AI initiatives. Spade leads the market in terms of merchant coverage, matching accuracy, geolocation data, and speed of transaction enrichment. Customers such as, FIS, Bilt, Mercury, Stripe, alongside many other leaders in fintech and financial services, trust Spade's data to enable personalized rewards programs, accurate applied spending rules, precise analytics requests, and innovative AI-powered features.

Spade is a fast growing, Series B company backed by industry experts and top tier investors (including Oak HC/FT, a16z, Flourish Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Gradient Ventures). We’re a lean and execution-oriented hybrid team, passionate about building exceptional products for our growing customer base. We care deeply about diversity of background, experience, and opinion. We value empathy, curiosity, and passion, and strive to create an environment where individuals have autonomy and the ability to take ownership over their work.

The Opportunity

As an Account Manager at Spade, you'll contribute directly to Spade’s revenue growth by owning the strategic relationships and growth trajectory for our enterprise customers. You'll manage implementations, drive product adoption and expansion, and build deep partnerships with the world’s leading financial institutions.

What will you be doing?

  • Own 5-10 major enterprise customer relationships ($2-5MM total ARR) from signature through renewal and expansion, serving as primary point of contact and trusted advisor
  • Build VP and C-suite relationships at each customer — mapping their roadmap, org, and strategic priorities — and run the QBRs, executive briefings, and onsites that move relationships forward
  • Lead renewals and multi-year pricing negotiations, including over-utilization, scope changes, and contract restructures, structuring complex deals across legal, procurement, and technical teams on both sides
  • Drive expansion by spotting opportunities and selling customers into new Spade products, owning the full deal cycle from discovery to close
  • Act as the customer's voice internally — partnering with engineering, product, and SEs on technical investigations, and translating findings and feedback into prioritized roadmap asks and VOC briefs
  • Partner with Sales pre-signature and Solutions Engineering post-signature to ensure clean handoffs and successful implementations on technically complex accounts

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?

Must Have:

  • 7+ years of experience, including 5+ years of account management or account executive experience for a technical product carrying a quota with responsibility for account growth, upsells, and renewals
  • Proven ownership of commercial outcomes (quota, NRR target, or revenue retention number) on a book of enterprise accounts, ideally in the $500K-$2M ACV range per contract
  • Experience owning enterprise deals and relationships, partnering with executive level stakeholders, and leading multi-year, multi-product enterprise contract negotiations, including MSA/procurement/legal terms
  • Comfort using AI, automation, and self-built workflows to scale yourself
  • Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

Nice to have:

  • Experience with transaction or payments data
  • Experience with API or data products
  • Experience building post-sales playbooks, SOPs, or operating frameworks from scratch

Why Join Spade?

  • Be a cultural founder. As an early employee, you’ll play a meaningful role in defining and building our culture.
  • Get in on the ground floor. We’re a small but well-funded team – joining now comes with limited risk and unlimited upside.
  • Build the next generation of financial infrastructure. Our products will power the next wave of innovation in fintech, helping our customers deliver better, more transparent products and services to the consumer.

Benefits at Spade:

  • Competitive Compensation. Data-driven salaries that reward performance and ownership.
  • Meaningful Equity. Flexibility with early exercise and an extended post-termination options.
  • Comprehensive Health Benefits. 100% paid medical, mental, dental, and vision premium option plus One Medical membership (for US-based employees).
  • 401(k). Empowering you to invest in your future.
  • Paid Parental Leave. 12 weeks of full pay for parents welcoming a new child into their home.
  • Unlimited PTO. Take the time you need to unplug and unwind.
  • Flexible In-Person Culture. NYC HQ (hybrid and dog-friendly) with remote opportunities for certain roles in US/Canada.
  • Supporting you in and outside of work. Generous work from home stipend, company-paid lunches, Citibike Membership, and more.

Salary Range:

  • At Spade, we view total compensation as consisting of salary + equity + benefits. We recruit motivated and high performing talent, and work to compensate people in line with the value they bring to our team.
  • We aim to pay fairly and competitively, and consider a number of factors in developing compensation offers. These factors include years and breadth of experience, interview performance, market dynamics, and internal equity.
  • The anticipated base salary range for this role is listed above (in USD).

Diversity & Inclusion at Spade:

About Carbon Mapper

Carbon Mapper is a non-profit organization based in Pasadena, CA with the mission to drive greenhouse gas emission reductions by making methane and carbon dioxide data accessible and actionable. We leverage remote sensing technology to detect, pinpoint, and quantify methane and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at the scale of individual facilities. All of our methane and CO2 data is made publicly available for non-commercial use on our Carbon Mapper Data Portal to provide decisionmakers with the information they need to prioritize and take mitigation action.

Carbon Mapper also works with stakeholders and decision makers to fill data gaps, lead on cutting edge science, collaborate to drive reductions, and advance education and insights on emissions globally. To do this, we work with partners to leverage a constellation of satellites. Data from these satellites will offer the next major step in scaling up the organization's robust data portal featuring thousands of direct observations of global methane and CO2 super-emitters.

About The Role

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer on our Data Operations team, you'll help ensure our core data products meet a reliable baseline of quality, latency, and cost as we scale. You'll use operational metrics to pinpoint bottlenecks and quality gaps, then partner with peer teams to fix them through machine learning, automation, and process improvement. You'll bring deep ML expertise to a domain-heavy problem space (remote sensing, plume detection, and infrastructure mapping) and connect that expertise directly to the operational outcomes our data products depend on.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•       Design, develop, and deploy deep learning and machine learning models for remote sensing imagery analysis, classification, and segmentation. Applications include plume detection, hyperspectral data processing, and infrastructure mapping.

•       Identify and integrate remote sensing and other spatial datasets (RGB imagery, basemaps, weather data, GIS inventories) to develop and improve models, using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate data exploration and profiling.

•       Bring current best practices in remote sensing and machine learning to cross-functional discussions on product design and implementation.

•       Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members, fostering skill development in ML, data engineering, and remote sensing across the Data Operations team.

•       Lead significant data-quality initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition through deployment, collaborating with members of the Data Operations, Science, and Engineering teams.

•       Design and build automation and tooling that reduce manual effort and improve the consistency and throughput of core data products.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

•       Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

•       Experience building statistical and machine learning models using remote sensing datasets, with applied expertise in deep learning approaches (e.g., transformers) and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.

•       Demonstrated ability to use remote sensing imagery in deployed ML systems for detection of atmospheric gases, weather conditions, natural or agricultural ecosystems, or land use/land cover.

•       Comfort adopting AI tools across the ML workflow, including AI-assisted coding and AI-supported model development, testing, and evaluation, with a clear perspective on when and how these tools add value and where careful review and engineering judgment are needed to verify outcomes.

•       Experience designing and evaluating production ML systems, defining model performance metrics and validation strategies that reflect real operational conditions.

•       Track record of diagnosing model errors, bias, drift, and failure modes in production, and translating those findings into concrete model or pipeline improvements.

•       Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining models in production, with a focus on observability, reproducibility, and sound model-lifecycle practices.

•       Experience developing scalable training and inference pipelines that balance performance, latency, and cost.

•       Ability to contribute to and justify ML architecture and build-versus-buy decisions, and to lead significant experimentation efforts.

•       Commitment to model explainability, with the practical ability to make models, features, and decision processes interpretable to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

•       Solid Python programming skills across the scientific and ML stack (NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, etc.), with the ability to apply standard software development practices and clearly document results.

•       Track record of influencing stakeholders and collaborating with peers across engineering, product, and science functions, with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

•       Background in atmospheric or weather remote sensing applications, including methane plume detection, detection of trace gases, or weather modeling.

•       Familiarity with cloud-native geospatial data formats and catalogs (STAC, Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF, Zarr) and large-scale raster/hyperspectral processing.

•       Experience deploying and operating ML systems in scalable cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure), including containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and data pipelines that balance quality, latency, and cost at scale.

•       Solid understanding of MLOps practices and demonstrated experience implementing them in production.

Location

Carbon Mapper is headquartered in Pasadena, California, but we embrace the virtual office and are continuing to grow our team across the United States.

Compensation

The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $155,000 – $185,000. This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range.

Benefits

As a Carbon Mapper employee, you will have access to a wide range of benefits including affordable health coverage (medical, dental, vision), a generous time-off policy, professional development, and more.

As a Mid-Market Account Executive at Spade, you're joining at a pivotal moment. Every bank is leaning into an AI strategy, but none of it works without the asset they've never been able to leverage: their own transaction data. Spade unlocks the power of that data. In this entrepreneurial role, you'll own the full sales cycle with banks and credit unions, from sourcing through close. As a consultative partner, you’ll showcase Spade’s benefits to teams across marketing, data, product, and engineering - understanding their needs and position Spade's solutions to meet them. You'll help define how we sell, working closely with our CRO, fellow AEs, and founders.

What will you be doing?

  • Own sales cycle from prospecting to close (currently have a very full pipeline and lots of warm intros / inbound leads!)
  • Develop strategic account plans including needs assessments, stakeholder mapping, and solution positioning to accelerate sales cycle
  • Build pipeline through market research, industry networking, outreach, and relationship development with key banking decision-makers
  • Collaborate closely with Chief Revenue Officer, other AEs, and founders to refine bank sales strategy, improve sales processes, and provide feedback on product development to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?

Must Have:

  • 4+ years of work experience with at least 2+ years in a quota-carrying sales role
  • Experience selling into banks and/or credit unions, ideally calling on marketing, data, business, product, or engineering teams.
  • Ability to run a sales process from sourcing to close
  • Entrepreneurial experience working creatively to source and engage with potential customers
  • Comfort with conveying value of highly technical products
  • Based in NYC with ability to work out of our Flatiron office at least 2 days/week

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in API, payments, and/or data products
  • Prior experience as an early sales hire in a startup

Why Join Spade?

  • Be a cultural founder. As an early employee, you’ll play a meaningful role in defining and building our culture.
  • Get in on the ground floor. We’re a small but well-funded team – joining now comes with limited risk and unlimited upside.

We value empathy, curiosity, and passion, and strive to create an environment where individuals have autonomy and the ability to take ownership over their work.

What will you be doing?

At Spade, data is the product — and you'll be one of the people shaping it. As a Data Scientist, you'll build the real-time ML/AI systems that power how top fintechs and financial institutions understand every transaction: from traditional ML and NLP models to AI agents, all running on our proprietary merchant, location, and transaction datasets. Your work won't sit in a research silo — you'll partner closely with engineering and product to take ideas from prototype to production, directly shaping the accuracy, speed, and intelligence customers like FIS, Bilt, Mercury, and Stripe rely on every day.

  • Own the full lifecycle of ML/AI products. From first prototype to production system serving real customers
  • Build the automated systems behind Spade's data quality. The models and pipelines that keep our accuracy and coverage ahead of the market
  • Set the bar for how ML gets built here. Pushing for models that are not just accurate, but scalable, robust, and production-ready from day one
  • Help shape where the data science team goes next. Partnering directly with leadership on roadmap and priorities (Senior role)
  • Grow the team around you. Mentoring other data scientists and raising the practices we build on (Senior role)

Note: We're hiring for both Mid and Senior levels across multiple openings; exact level is determined during the interview process.

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?

  • 3+ years building and shipping models in Python, in a fast-paced environment (5+ for senior)
  • Worked hands-on with engineering and product, not just in a research silo
  • Strong ML, stats, and data fundamentals (PySpark, pandas, SQL)
  • A product mindset — you navigate ambiguity and optimize for customer value, not just model accuracy
  • A collaborative streak — you take feedback well and care about the team's success, not just your own
  • An AI-forward workflow — coding assistants and LLMs are part of how you already work, and you're excited to push further

Additional for Senior

  • 5+ years, with end-to-end ownership of ML/AI products from idea to production
  • Shipped ML/AI-powered products, ideally customer-facing
  • A track record of mentoring and raising team standards

  • Early-stage, high-growth startup experience

System1 is building the next generation of AI Agent–powered consumer products, and we’re looking for a Lead AI Product Engineer to help lead the effort. You’ll design, build, and operate our most ambitious AI agent systems from early prototypes through production, owning core architecture, reliability, and performance as these products scale.

This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role for a builder who can move quickly from concept to working systems, shipping, iterating, and hardening real agent workflows that deliver consumer value at scale.

This role sits at the intersection of multi-agent orchestration, agentic coding, and production engineering, offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI while directly influencing real-world product outcomes and business performance.

You do not need prior experience with every protocol or framework listed below—we value strong systems thinking, production experience, and the ability to learn fast in emerging domains.

What You’ll Do:- Build and operate multi-agent systems that plan, coordinate, and execute tasks across multiple tools and services, to solve real user problems at scale.

  • Implement agentic coding workflows, where agents generate code, run tests, create diffs or PRs, and iterate autonomously within guardrails.
  • Design agent orchestration layers (planners, supervisors, evaluators) to manage task decomposition, retries, and long-running execution.
  • Instrument and monitor agent behavior across success, failure, latency, cost, and human overrides, with exposure to agent-to-tool payment flows as the ecosystem evolves.
  • Collaborate with Product & Design to translate user problems into shippable agent workflows, iterating quickly based on real-world feedback.

What You’ll Bring:- Strong experience building LLM-powered systems in production, including prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool/function calling, and agentic coding workflows where agents write, modify, and validate code within guardrails.

  • Solid backend engineering skills with Python and/or Node.js, designing APIs, async services, and background workers that support long-running, stateful agent workflows.
  • Experience designing multi-step, agent-driven execution loops (plan → act → evaluate → retry), with explicit state management, idempotency, and failure recovery.
  • Comfort with distributed systems primitives (queues, pub/sub, durable state, rate limiting, concurrency controls) required to coordinate agents at scale.
  • Proven ability to instrument and observe agent behavior, emitting structured events for task success, failures, retries, overrides, and code-generation outcomes.
  • Experience deploying and operating systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with inter-agent communication patterns, including message schemas, shared memory, blackboard systems, or event-driven coordination.
  • Experience implementing agent evaluation pipelines (prompt regression tests, simulation-based evals, automated scoring, human-in-the-loop review).
  • Understanding of cost-aware execution for agents (dynamic model routing, caching, batching, budget constraints).
  • Experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, and persistent memory strategies.
  • Exposure to emerging agent protocols (e.g., x402 payment flows, MCP), with the ability to implement evolving specs pragmatically.

Who You Are:- You operate with high urgency, agency, and a bias for action, translating ideas into working systems quickly, learning from real-world signals, and iterating continuously.

  • You pair speed with rigor, bringing strong engineering fundamentals (systems thinking, evaluation discipline, reliability) so each iteration is meaningfully better, not just different.
  • You embrace a “long is wrong” mindset, simplifying, automating, and removing bottlenecks to consistently reduce cycle time.
  • You think and act like an owner, making sound tradeoffs and taking end-to-end accountability for performance, reliability, cost, and user experience.
  • You optimize for technological leverage, building reusable primitives, tooling, and patterns that compound team output over time.
  • You are growth-minded, working backward from LTV/CAC and prioritizing engineering work that moves activation, retention, conversion, and cost per successful outcome.
  • You excel at constraint removal, unblocking execution and increasing innovation per unit time, including through agentic tool use with clear guardrails and observability.

What We Have To Offer:- Competitive salary + bonus + equity

  • Generous PTO + 11 company holidays
  • Open sick time
  • 100% covered Medical, Dental, Vision for employees
  • 401k with match
  • Health & Dependent Care Flex Spending Account
  • Paid professional development
  • Leadership & growth opportunities
  • Virtual company and team building events
