Key job responsibilities

​

• Define and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs, setting clear objectives, measurable success criteria, and long-term strategy while driving teams inside and outside your organization to deliver.
• Partner with engineering teams and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, align on requirements, and make smart trade-offs between time, effort, and features to keep programs on track.
• Identify and mitigate risks proactively by overseeing gaps between teams, processes, and system architectures, reducing exposure to common failure modes such as unclear requirements, insufficient testing, or ineffective cross-team collaboration.
• Leverage your technical judgment to evaluate system designs, question assumptions, and ensure architectures will scale to meet business needs, incorporating generative AI tools where appropriate to improve productivity and quality.
• Communicate program progress and outcomes effectively through written narratives and executive presentations, building alignment across Directors and VPs while resolving conflicting viewpoints through collaborative decision-making.

A day in the life

​

You will start your day reviewing program metrics and status updates, then move into working sessions with engineering teams to unblock dependencies and refine technical approaches. You will facilitate alignment discussions with stakeholders across multiple organizations, draft program documents that bring clarity to complex decisions, and use data to adjust priorities in real time. You will also mentor other program managers, contribute to organizational roadmaps, and assess development processes to help teams improve how they deliver.

Basic Qualifications

​

• 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
• 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
• 3+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

​

Preferred Qualifications

​

• 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
• Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
• Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

The Ads Measurement Science team in the Measurement, Ad Tech, and Data Science (MADS) team of Amazon Ads serves a centralized role developing solutions for a multitude of performance measurement products. We create solutions which measure the comprehensive impact of advertiser's ad spend, including sales impacts both online and offline and across timescales, and provide actionable insights that enable our advertisers to optimize their media portfolios. We also own the science solutions for AI tools that unlock new insights and automate high-effort customer workflows, such as custom query and report generation based on natural language user requests. We leverage a host of scientific technologies to accomplish this mission, including Generative AI, classical ML, Causal Inference, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision.

As a Principal Technical Program Manager on the team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, driving program execution on some of the most high ambiguity, high impact initiatives within Ads. You will work across Product, Science, and Engineering to drive AI initiatives spanning VP organizations, including 1) our Analyst Agent which will work alongside other ads agents to transform the performance reporting and insights experience for advertisers, and 2) our Ads Customer Journey Model, which seeks to revolutionize our measurement, planning, and optimization experiences through foundational customer journey understanding. You will own the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale technical programs that span multiple teams, product organizations, and business stakeholders. You'll work at the intersection of advertising technology, machine learning, and distributed systems to solve ambiguous problems that shape the future of digital advertising.

Key job responsibilities

• Own end-to-end program management for strategic advertising technology initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations
• Drive technical strategy and roadmap alignment across engineering, product, science, and business teams
• Lead cross-functional teams through complex technical challenges in areas such as ad serving, campaign management, measurement, and optimization
• Establish program governance, metrics, and reporting mechanisms to ensure visibility and accountability at the VP level
• Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks across large-scale distributed systems serving billions of ad requests daily
• Partner with engineering leaders to influence architecture decisions and ensure scalability, reliability, and performance
• Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across Amazon Ads, AWS, and Retail organizations
• Drive operational excellence through process improvements, automation, and best practices
• Mentor and develop other TPMs across the organization

A day in the life

​

You will solve real-world problems by getting and analyzing large amounts of data, generate business insights and opportunities, design simulations and experiments, and develop statistical and ML models. The team is driven by business needs, which requires collaboration with other Scientists, Engineers, and Product Managers across the advertising organization.
