Job Description
The Game Operations Director leads all live operations across two games: Big Fish Casino (BFC) and Jackpot Magic Slots (JMS). In this role, you will set the strategy, lead all aspects of execution, and drive performance across game events, monetization, content lifecycle programming, and player communications. This role partners across functions and teams to deliver a unified live-ops plan that delights our players.
You will lead the GameOps team of 8 members (5 direct reports), strengthen operational excellence, and deliver meaningful revenue and retention impact across both games. This is a senior leadership position with direct influence on business performance and long-term player value.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership
- Define and communicate the long-term GameOps strategy for BFC and JMS in alignment with product strategic pillars and commercial goals.
- Set annual and quarterly objectives for GameOps and ensure they support revenue, direct to consumer (DTC) share, and player satisfaction.
- Lead the content lifecycle plan, ensuring both apps have fresh, relevant programming across the calendar year.
- Balance short-term performance with long-term player experience and economy health.
Live Operations Ownership
- Oversee all live-ops programs including events, missions, offers, sales, segmentation, and content pacing.
- Ensure cohesive programming across both apps and across all player segments including DTC cohorts.
- Drive innovation in GameOps through new event types, improved segmentation, and modern engagement loops.
Performance and Experimentation
- Own daily, weekly, and monthly performance across key KPIs including revenue, retention, and DTC share.
- Partner with Analytics and Economy leaders to tune events, identify risks, and scale successful programs.
- Oversee AB testing within GameOps and ensure tests are structured, data-driven, and aligned to material business outcomes.
Team Leadership and Cross Functional Influence
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of GameOps Managers.
- Champion collaboration between GameOps, Product, Production, Creative, Engineering, Marketing, and Slot Strategy.
- Establish clear expectations for planning, delivery quality, documentation, and continuous improvement across the team.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure reliable and high-quality delivery.
- Drive improvements in tools, workflows, documentation standards, and automation opportunities.
- Build a culture of consistent test, learn, and iterate using insights from structured analysis.
What We’re Looking For
- 8 to 10 years experience in Live Operations, Product Management, or related fields in social casino, RMG, or free-to-play games.
- Proven ability to deliver live-ops performance at scale in top grossing or highly complex games.
- Deep understanding of monetization levers, content pacing, segmentation, and economy impacts.
- Strong analytical capability with experience using indicators to guide decisions and performance improvements.
- Demonstrated capability in coaching, mentoring, and developing people, including building succession depth and fostering growth in live-ops and product talent.
Leadership and Behavioral Skills
- Strategic problem solver able to connect daily execution to long-term goals.
- Strong planning and delivery rigor, especially in complex calendar environments.
