Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Group Accounting Manager to join our External Reporting team in a full-time, permanent position. Reporting directly to the Director - Group Reporting, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant market reporting and providing expert accounting advice on significant transactions. This is a high-visibility role with regular engagement across senior leadership, including the Group Financial Controller and regional CFOs. You’ll have the opportunity to work on strategic projects such as acquisitions, divestments, financing, and capital management, all within a dynamic and collaborative environment that supports your professional growth.
What You’ll Do
Financial & Statutory Reporting
- Drive the Group’s reporting to the market including half-year and full-year reporting and disclosures ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Prepare Group statutory reports (incl. Group Cash Flow Statement) and Board Audit Committee papers to support key accounting positions and judgements.
- Prepare technical accounting papers and provide expert guidance on complex matters, addressing a wide range of technical queries from across the business.
- As the company continues to expand and diversify, you'll be a key resource for interpreting and applying accounting standards to new and evolving scenarios. Your ability to distill complex guidance into practical solutions will be essential in maintaining compliance and enabling informed decision-making throughout the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and review subsidiary financial documents.
Assistance with Close Process
- Review month-end transactions and balances, and investigate unusual items.
- Support efficient close processes aligned to reporting needs.
- Perform high-level periodic reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.
Internal Processes / Controls
- Maintain adherence to internal controls, policies, and Australian Accounting Standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes and control environments, contributing to broader Finance Transformation initiatives.
- Identify and implement automation and efficiency opportunities across reporting workflows.
Business Partnering
- Develop strong connections with Business Unit finance teams, Commercial Finance, and other corporate collaborators.
- Provide advice on accounting impacts of complex transactions.
- Collaborate to develop practical, business-savvy solutions that address customer needs and align with regulations.
Audits (External and Internal)
- Act as the primary liaison for external audit engagements, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit queries.
- Support internal audit reviews, contributing to risk mitigation and control enhancement efforts.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Active Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- A minimum of 5-8 years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to a Big 4 or mid-tier firm
- Experience in group reporting or listed company environments
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and audit experience
- Strong written, verbal, and influencing skills across all levels of the business
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to accuracy
Preferred
- Involvement in complex transactions
- Proven record of improving processes in financial reporting
