Job Description

About Us

Smith.ai builds AI voice agents that redefine how SMBs handle phone calls — allowing businesses to book appointments, take payments, and manage complex call flows without missing a beat. We serve a wide range of businesses, from law firms to home contractors and many other service-based companies, leveraging the latest in LLMs, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech to deliver human-like conversation at scale. With over 4,000 SMBs already trusting Smith.ai (and staying with us thanks to world-class retention), we’re driving the next wave of AI innovation where it matters most: real-world customer interactions.

About This Role

As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll own the development, launch, and ongoing improvement of our products and internal tools—most notably, our AI Receptionist. You’ll operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, shaping product direction while rolling up your sleeves to scope, de-risk, and deliver high-impact features. (Recent work includes leading the development of a custom greeting feature and producing clear, engaging video documentation for both internal teams and customers.)

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where balancing user needs with business goals is key. As part of a small, collaborative team, you'll have a meaningful voice in both our product and our culture.

Reporting directly to the Group Product Manager, you'll help advance the product vision while translating real customer problems into innovative, scalable solutions.

About You

You thrive in dynamic environments, bringing a strategic mindset and a bias for action. A systems thinker who communicates complex ideas effectively, you balance tactical execution with long-term vision.

  • Proactive communicator who works with minimal oversight
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving results
  • Curious about understanding problems and proactive in learning from others
  • Quick learner who treats challenges as opportunities
  • More focused on impactful progress than perfection

This isn't the right fit if you're a lone wolf who prefers isolation. We need a collaborative, adaptable team player.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Product Development: Own features from ideation through launch, managing requirements, scope, and timelines
  • Shape the Roadmap: Collaborate with stakeholders to refine product vision and strategy
  • Collaborate: In addition to working with the design and engineering teams, work closely with the founders, Product + Ops teams, customer support, and marketing to design and implement new products/features
  • Analyze Opportunities: Conduct business analysis to identify market trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities
  • Learn: Understand the system, its strengths, recommend opportunities for improvement, but recognize when scope has increased
  • Prioritize Effectively: Optimize the product backlog by balancing dependencies, impact, and tradeoffs
  • Document and contribute to process: ability to extrapolate successful processes, implement globally and support with documentation

Experience

Must Have:

  • Based in or operates primarily within the Eastern Time Zone (EST)
  • 5-7+ years of product management experience, delivering user-focused solutions
  • Experience in startups (Seed to Series B)
  • Successful team-based remote work environment experience (e.g., Slack, Teams)
  • Adept in project management and development tools (e.g., ClickUp, GitHub)
  • Proven success managing full product lifecycles, from shaping to shipping to improvement
  • Ability to connect customer feedback to actionable and impactful product improvements

Nice to Have:

  • Spanish proficiency (conversational to fluent) to support collaboration with our Spain-based engineering team
  • Product management experience within B2B Product-focused organizations
  • SaaS, AI/ML, or SMB-focused product experience
  • An understanding of prompt engineering, RAG, and other AI mechanisms, or even more, experience training ML models
  • Familiarity in Figma's FigJam or other shaping tools

Benefits

  • Location: Fully Remote (US-based)
  • This is a full-time position with a salary that ranges between $140,000 - $170,000 per year, depending on experience
  • We offer equity and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and unlimited FTO
