About the Role
As a QA Engineer, you’ll ensure quality across the full technology stack—from backend services to the user-facing client. You’ll design test plans, perform various testing techniques (including API and database validation), and manage defects for integrated features. Working closely with both frontend and backend developers, you’ll verify data integrity, test integrations, and drive quality improvements. You’re expected to operate independently, manage your workload efficiently, and actively enhance end-to-end testing processes.
This position is based in Gdansk - 3 times per week in our Product Madness office (al. Grunwaldzka 50).
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Test Planning & Design
- Develop comprehensive, well-structured test plans and cases covering both client-side and backend functionality.
- Assess feature complexity to identify appropriate API, database, and client test scenarios.
- Support estimation of testing efforts for upcoming development stories.
Execution & Defect Management
- Execute manual and automated full-stack tests, including API testing (e.g., Postman) and database validation.
- Identify, document, and categorize defects, clearly distinguishing between client- and server-side issues.
- Verify bug fixes and manage regression testing for assigned features.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, offering a holistic QA perspective during planning and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to reproduce and resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain and enhance QA documentation for integrated systems.
Technical Contribution
- Build a strong understanding of the product’s client-server architecture.
- Use API testing tools, SQL clients, and other utilities to validate system integration.
- Contribute to test automation by writing or maintaining scripts for API and client behavior validation.
Required:
- QA Experience: 1–3+ years in software quality assurance, with hands-on experience testing frontend and backend systems.
- Testing Expertise: Strong grasp of QA methodologies, including API, integration, and client-side testing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in API testing tools (Postman, Swagger) and basic SQL for data validation.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret requirements, create detailed test cases, and solve across the stack.
- Organization: Strong time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaboration: Proven success working with cross-functional teams.
- Attitude: Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and eagerness to learn new tools and testing strategies.
Preferred:
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git).
