Job Description
At Vested, we're on a mission to democratize equity ownership and make it simple for employees to understand, manage, and maximize the value of their startup stock options. Compensation at startups is broken. Almost 80% of employee equity is abandoned, meaning startup employees (about 6 million in the U.S.) are missing out on hundreds of billions of dollars. That’s money they earned that could be changing their lives — enabling them to pay off student loans, buy their first home, or start a family. But that’s not what’s happening. Vested is here to fix that. We believe that equity compensation should be transparent, accessible, and empowering—not confusing and opaque.
We're building a platform that helps thousands of employees at startups make informed decisions about their equity, from understanding the value of their equity to receiving Vested-provided funding to exercise their stock options. Our tools have already helped users unlock hundreds of millions in equity value, and we're just getting started.
About the role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can define and deliver products that have a real impact on people's financial futures. You'll be joining a small and early-stage engineering team where each engineer has significant ownership and your contributions will directly shape the product and the company's technical direction.
As a senior member of our engineering team, you'll focus on the development and supporting infrastructure of vested.co – our core equity management and stock-option-funding platform.
What You'll Do
- Build impactful features: Design and implement user-facing features that help people understand and manage their equity compensation.
- Own end-to-end delivery: Take projects from concept to production, including system design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Shape our technical direction: Contribute to architectural decisions and help establish engineering best practices as we scale.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with product, design, and business teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Grow the team: Share your expertise with other engineers and help build a culture of continuous learning. Help us grow and shape our inclusive, friendly, egoless engineering culture.
- Solve complex problems: Tackle challenging technical problems around financial calculations, data integrations, and building reliable systems at scale.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in modern web development technologies and frameworks.
- Experience with full-stack development, including frontend and backend systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Passion for building products that improve people's financial well-being.
Nice to Have
- Experience in fintech or financial services.
- Familiarity with equity compensation concepts.
- Previous experience in a startup environment.

Location
Fully remote. Standup and collaboration is centered mostly around the Eastern Time Zone, but we have team members from Alaska to Europe.
