Tech Ladies Talk: Rebecca Pino on Expanding Women’s Relationship with Money

Why Women Are Told to Shrink

Rebecca sees a clear pattern in how women are socialized around money.

“We’re not taught about money at any point in our lives, and if we are taught, we’re taught to have a scarcity mindset. Every single piece of advice that women get in any aspect of our lives, we’re always told to shrink… Be skinny, be quiet in a room, don’t bring too much attention to yourself, marry rich. Like all of this stuff is just outsourcing problems, and it teaches women to be smaller.”

Even when advice seems empowering—like moving money into a high-yield savings account—Rebecca challenges us to look deeper.

“Women’s problems are not investing… While that maybe is a good first step, it shouldn’t be the only step.” Her perspective? Safety nets are important, but true growth requires some level of risk.

Founding Money Her Way

Becoming a founder meant confronting her own doubts. “The first video I ever posted on TikTok for Money Her Way got 100,000 views. And I’m so mad that I didn’t keep up with it. But… I felt imposter syndrome, to be completely honest, because there is a lot of noise out there on social media. I actually wanted to be part of the solution and not contribute to the problem.”

Instead of rushing content, she doubled down on credibility: “I felt like I needed to go and get more experience… that’s why I decided to go get licensed as a financial advisor. Armed with my licenses and certifications, now I do feel more secure… and I’m able to practice what I preach.”

Today, her work balances financial advising, coaching, and community-building. “If I can change a few people’s perspectives about sound financial advice, that makes me feel really good.”

Looking Ahead

At ICON, Rebecca will be diving into women’s unique money mindsets. “What I want to talk about a lot is specifically our relationship with money, women’s relationships with money… I want to talk about and dive deep into the behaviors and the attachment styles that I’ve seen different women have, and help them kind of craft a life that they value and help them put their money towards their values.”

She’s equally excited for the community aspect: “Anything that involves women supporting women, like I’m there, and I’m just so happy to be involved in that.”
