Possible Finance

Hi, We're Possible Finance!

Finance and FinTech

At Possible, we create financial technology products that are built to benefit our customers’ economic mobility. As a Public Benefit Corporation, it’s not only our mission but our responsibility to succeed. We grow our team accordingly—through a selective process that prioritizes candidate and employee experience alike.

Mission and Vision

We’re on a mission to help our customers and their communities unlock economic mobility for generations to come. Join the team that’s making our goal a reality.

At Possible, we’re building a new type of consumer finance company. One that helps our customers stay out of debt rather than profit from them staying in it. As a Public Benefit Corporation, it is our mission and responsibility to help communities unlock economic mobility through affordable credit products crafted to improve financial health.

Founded in 2017, our lead VCs are Canvas and Union Square Ventures. We have over 100,000 reviews on the App Store with a 4.8-star average rating.

Since our founding, we have redefined how people approach small-dollar loans—delivering over $1 billion in funding to more than 1 million customers, issuing over 4 million loans, and saving our customers more than $500 million.

Our Values

Serve with Empathy

Our customers come to Possible from all walks of life and circumstances; they rely on us to serve their needs with understanding, not judgment. Serving with empathy is about putting the team’s and customers’ needs above one’s own. It’s about slowing down to understand others’ challenges and the situational context in which they’re operating, especially when things aren’t going smoothly. We are servant leaders. We don’t tolerate jerks, even if they are geniuses. As with customers, we approach each other with understanding, not judgment. We challenge ourselves to take an empathetic view when tempted to adopt a more facile (and often more critical) position.

Collaborate with Trust

Our customers are frequently denied credit, which can make them feel invisible and powerless. By trusting them when no one else will, we show them what is possible together. Collaborating with trust is about working as one team with one shared mission. It’s about extending trust to each other by default. Trust requires having faith in the strengths and expertise of other team members, recognizing that everyone's fates are tied together. We assume positive intent when engaging with one another. We are vigilant about rooting out and addressing anything that erodes trust within the team (or with customers); trust is so fundamental to effective collaboration that we never take it for granted.

Succeed with Grit

Our customers are some of the grittiest people we know. They deal with challenges that are often difficult to imagine. Yet, they persevere through thick and thin; their resilience is something we strive to emulate.Grit is about pressing on through difficult situations in the pursuit of big, aspirational goals over a long period of time. It’s about remaining steadfast in our passion for these goals, especially when resources are limited or the odds seem stacked against us. Because we tackle really hard problems that take sometimes years to solve, we expect failures along the way. We accept and welcome failure when it means we’ve pushed ourselves to new limits; we rebound and iterate until we succeed.

Act with Ownership

Every team member at Possible is given the opportunity to own a piece of the company. As owners, we have a shared stake in the future of the company; the decisions and actions we take individually have downstream impact on the team as a whole. Ownership is about acting with both agency and judgment. It’s about doing the right thing for the team and our customers, even when no one is looking. Being an owner incurs responsibility to contribute to the long-term success of Possible, beyond one’s own tenure. As we scale, we strive to retain the hands-on ownership that everyone felt when we were small. We don’t look to others to take out the trash; we get our hands dirty when we see something that just needs to get done.

Grow with Intellectual Honesty

When teams have the discipline to evaluate ideas fairly and objectively they not only create space for ideas to flow freely; they also allow the best ideas to emerge based on the merits. Intellectual honesty is about unearthing the truth by being inquisitive, grounded by facts, and capable of setting aside personal beliefs and biases. It entails respectfully challenging others’ assumptions as well as being open to incorporating new information. We say “I don’t know” even when it makes us feel vulnerable. We say “I was wrong” without ego or any lingering attachment to an unsupportable position. Being intellectually honest is often uncomfortable (for ourselves and others), but it's required for continuous learning and growth.

Team Introduction

The Platform Team is the backbone of Possible's technical infrastructure, enabling our product teams to deliver reliable, scalable financial solutions to our customers. We own the critical infrastructure and deployment systems for our Java services and React Native applications, while championing developer experience across the organization.

Our team provides the foundation that allows Possible to innovate quickly and reliably in the fintech space. We design, build, and maintain the tools and systems that empower our engineers to develop and ship high-quality code with confidence. Beyond infrastructure, we develop and maintain core shared components that are used across our products, drive coding standards and best practices throughout the engineering organization.

We play a pivotal role in architectural decisions, ensuring that our systems are designed for scale, security, and maintainability. By collaborating closely with product teams, we help shape technical solutions that align with our business goals while maintaining the highest engineering standards.

Currently, we're tackling the challenges of scaling our infrastructure to support our growing user base while developing reusable components that accelerate product development. We're enhancing our observability systems, refining our architectural patterns, and building robust developer tooling that reduces friction and improves productivity across engineering teams.

As we continue to expand our product offerings, the Platform Team focuses on creating both infrastructure and shared components that can adapt to new requirements while maintaining the highest standards of security and performance—essential components in the financial services industry.

The Role & Responsibilities

As the Engineering Manager for the Platform Team, you'll lead a talented group of engineers responsible for the technical foundation that powers our financial products. You'll oversee our infrastructure, deployment systems, developer experience initiatives, DevOps practices, monitoring solutions, and the development of critical shared components.

You'll collaborate closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs and create infrastructure and technical solutions that enable them to deliver features efficiently. You'll help establish and enforce coding standards, testing practices, and architectural patterns that ensure consistency and quality across our codebase.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing a team of platform engineers, setting clear goals and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Partnering with engineering leaders across the organization to identify infrastructure needs, establish technical standards, and prioritize platform initiatives
  • Overseeing the evolution of our CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and containerization strategies
  • Guiding the design and development of shared components and libraries that can be leveraged across our products
  • Participating in and sometimes leading architectural discussions for new features and products
  • Driving improvements in system reliability, performance monitoring, and incident response
  • Championing code quality initiatives, including testing standards and code review processes
  • Establishing and refining technical standards and best practices across the engineering organization
  • Managing the platform roadmap, including capacity planning and resource allocation
  • Mentoring engineers and providing technical guidance on complex infrastructure and product challenges
  • Ensuring our systems maintain the highest standards of security and compliance, essential for a fintech organization

This role requires technical depth in both infrastructure and product development combined with strong leadership skills, as you'll need to make architectural decisions while guiding your team to successful implementation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience, ideally with experience leading both product engineering and platform/infrastructure teams
  • Strong technical background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD systems
  • Experience building and shipping customer-facing products using Java backend services and React/React Native applications
  • Background in designing and implementing shared components and libraries used across multiple products
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Knowledge of observability systems, logging solutions, and alerting frameworks
  • Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards, testing practices, and architectural patterns
  • Track record of successful cross-team collaboration and influence on technical decisions
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements in financial services (preferred)
  • Experience with distributed teams across multiple time zones

Location and Benefits:

We prefer people located in Seattle or those willing to relocate. We have a hybrid work style, with the team meeting at our downtown office three times weekly.

We offer a competitive salary range of $187,760.00 - $197,650.00  annually, with significant equity potential based on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off.

At Possible, we’re building a new type of consumer finance company—one that helps our customers stay out of debt rather than profit from their staying in it. We are a Public Benefit Corporation with the mission to help communities unlock economic mobility through affordable credit products crafted to improve financial health for generations. Join the team that’s making our goal a reality.

Founded in 2017, our lead VCs are Canvas and Union Square Ventures. We have over 100,000 reviews on the App Store, with an average rating of 4.8 stars. Since our founding, we have redefined how people approach small-dollar loans—delivering over $1 billion in funding to more than 1 million customers, issuing over 4 million loans, and saving our customers more than $500 million.

We’re seeking a Senior Finance Systems Manager to lead the transformation of our internal finance and accounting infrastructure, including NetSuite, internally developed ledger systems, and reconciliation and automation tools. This role blends technical leadership with financial operations expertise, reflecting our dedication to scalable systems, real-time visibility, and cross-functional alignment.

You will drive finance transformation, leading central initiatives that modernize how financial data is captured, processed, and leveraged. By partnering closely with Accounting, FP&A, and Engineering, you’ll ensure our systems evolve with business complexity and growth.

Key Responsibilities

------------------------

Finance Transformation & Strategy

------------------------------------

  • Lead the transformation of finance operations by deploying modern systems, automation, AI, and process reengineering.
  • Define and drive a strategic roadmap for finance and accounting systems, ensuring alignment with company-wide initiatives and regulatory needs.
  • Champion continuous improvement in financial processes, controls, and analytics capabilities.

Platform & Ledger System Management

------------------------------------------

  • Administer and evolve our ERP (NetSuite) and homegrown financial systems, including general ledger and reconciliation platforms.
  • Ensure architecture supports scale, compliance, and accurate data flow across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and record-to-report workflows.
  • Own the implementation, practical use, and continuous improvement of reconciliation and exception-handling processes using existing tools, supporting current workflows and new use cases.

Automation & Operational Excellence

------------------------------------------

  • Orchestrate automation initiatives to reduce manual input, improve close timelines, and enhance financial accuracy.
  • Leverage scripting (SuiteScript), workflows, APIs, and third-party tools (e.g., Airbase, Ramp, Celigo) to streamline integrations and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Build systems that support near real-time financial reporting and executive-level visibility.

Reporting, Analytics & Data Governance

---------------------------------------------

  • Own financial data pipelines and reporting architecture across platforms.
  • Develop dashboards and analytics tooling to serve FP&A, Accounting, and leadership needs.
  • Maintain data governance practices that ensure accuracy, security, and adaptability.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

---------------------------------------------------

  • Act as the bridge between Finance, Engineering, and Product for systems design, implementation, and support.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams for systems upgrades, new integrations, and transformation initiatives.
  • Align technical decisions with business goals, ensuring systems reflect evolving organizational needs.

Documentation & Engineering Best Practices

-------------------------------------------------

  • Maintain detailed documentation for systems architecture, configurations, and processes.
  • Use version control (e.g., Git, Bitbucket), follow structured release cycles, and lead organizational change efforts.

Required Qualifications

---------------------------

  • 6+ years of experience in finance systems administration, ERP strategy, or financial technology leadership.
  • Proven track record in finance transformation—designing and leading initiatives that materially improved finance operations and reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Deep knowledge of NetSuite (SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, SuiteAnalytics) and integrations (e.g., Celigo, APIs, SFTP).
  • Strong understanding of accounting workflows, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Excellent cross-functional project management and collaborative communication skills.
  • Experience with internal ledger systems or custom finance platforms is highly valuable.
  • NetSuite or finance systems certifications are a plus.

Bonus AI Experience

  • Exposure to tools such as OpenAI, or custom ML pipelines.
  • Experience deploying AI solutions in areas like reconciliation, classification, or forecasting.
