Opportunity:
We are seeking a Backend Developer to join our remote, full stack team focused on product-led growth and billing. In this role, you'll develop and optimize backend systems to support Deepgram’s speech to text, text to speech, and audio intelligence features. Our team owns APIs for billing, monitoring usage, managing projects, and setting up contracts. Check out the developer documentation for examples.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, deploy, and monitor backend services using Rust, Nomad, and PostgreSQL
- Collaborate with and advise product managers, business stakeholders, and other software engineers to create highly performant and scalable solutions
- Investigate and resolve internal customer issues related to contracts, usage, and billing
- Develop deep expertise in a few areas, but regularly dive into new parts of the codebase

It’s Important To Us That You Have
- Proven industry experience building backend services, designing APIs, and working with relational databases
- Experience optimizing database performance through efficient schema design, query optimization, and indexing strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities, ideally at an early stage start up
- Ability to translate product or design requirements into parallelizable and incrementally releasable tasks
- Experience balancing short-term deliverables with making long-term investments for efficiency, scale, and performance
It Would Be Great if You Had
- Experience with Rust
- Previous work in high transaction services like message queue systems or billing systems
- Proven skills with frontend technologies like React, Typescript, or Elm
- Prior experience with voice technology and AI-driven applications
