As Director of International Expansion, you will be responsible for helping build and lead a global team that is tasked with expanding our presence and building out our infrastructure, processes and products in the top talent markets globally,  initially across 30 countries in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC within the next 3 years. You will be accountable for scaling our international operations to new countries and taking them successfully from zero to launch. Post launch, you will work alongside Operations and Legal teams to continuously solidify and optimize operational foundations to create a cohesive, compliant and exceptional experience for customers. You will manage a high-performing team that will be accountable for KPIs and hitting our Board level objectives and goals. Your position plays a key role in driving our growth strategy, unlocking value for our customers and building a transformational product.

What You Will Work On

  • Lead, expand and mentor the International Expansion team by setting the strategy, prioritizing Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), as well as hiring, training and developing a world-class team.
  • Work closely with International leadership and the broader Operations, Legal and other teams to achieve our expansion plan.
  • Execute our international strategy end-to-end, launch our infrastructure, processes and products in new markets and deliver excellent quality and results within target timelines. Establish fully-functioning local entities, processes and infrastructure in new markets from “zero to launch” .
  • Design and implement strategic plans and strategies to reach ambitious expansion and launch targets.
  • Drive insights across the organization to make decisions around which markets to expand into and what the level of priority is in each.
  • Develop deep local insights and drive the strategy on how we approach entering into specific markets - develop close relationships with local stakeholders and vendors, partner with Legal and other business teams, dive deep into understanding local nuances and local ways of working that will make us successful in markets where we operate.
  • Problem solve continuously. We operate in dynamic environments with specific labor law and HR regulations. You are expected to understand these constraints and develop dynamic, innovative solutions to successfully launch and operate in markets.
  • Build a data and KPI-driven mindset across the Expansion organization.
  • Represent the ‘global’ voice of the organization.
  • Inspire and consistently engage, level up and develop your direct reports.
  • Support in other duties as needed based on department and/or organizational needs.
  • Travel to our international hubs and domestic locations to help build, scale and orient teams and offices.

Qualifications

------------------

  • Minimum of 10 years of global operations, expansion or similar roles. Direct experience working with or in multiple countries is a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Plus if experience in international EOR (employer of record) or contractor, or payroll or HR-tech industries
  • Track record of achieving and surpassing expectations
  • Experience leading teams – ideally teams of 5 or more people
  • Experience leading a management team of managers
  • Track record of building, executing and hitting plans
  • Experience working with complex products in global environment where you have to manage complex decisions across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with a “zero to 1” stage in setting up operations or products from the ground up
  • Comfortable advocating and communicating across the organization
  • Multilingual is a plus

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $200,000 to $280,000 per year.
