Job Description

As a Senior Front-End Engineer on the Platform team at Bitwarden, you will be responsible for building and maintaining core cross-cutting areas of our codebase, enabling your team and others to build secure, performant, and user-focused software. The key components of our front-end platform strategy include implementing a shared design system for use in our web, desktop, and browser extension clients, supporting other teams in identifying and executing on opportunities for componentization, and ensuring that our teams have proper tooling and design documentation to enable success. You will be a key contributor to ensuring the success of this strategy.

We’re looking for someone who will thrive in a growing organization with a strong collaborative focus.  You will have the opportunity to take ownership over key areas of our product, providing direction for future changes and scoping out work to bring exciting new features to our users while maintaining overall code quality and maintainability.

This is an all-remote team and we're looking for someone located in the U.S. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become an expert and authority on our platform front-end codebase and our design system component library
  • Participate in hands-on development of new components, building and updating components to support new features
  • Collaborating with designers to implement our design system
  • Support other teams in the organization with guidance and direction on componentization, opportunities for reuse, and overall front-end best practices
  • Participate in code reviews, learning and spreading knowledge
  • Occasionally contribute bug fixes submitted by the user community

WHAT YOU BRING TO BITWARDEN

  • Demonstrated expertise in building Angular web applications using a unified design system
  • Demonstrated expertise in building reusable libraries with rock solid APIs
  • Experience implementing designs from Figma or similar tools
  • Experience with Tailwind CSS for component styling
  • Familiarity with Storybook or another component modeling toolset
  • Familiarity with web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) and implementing accessible experiences
  • Familiarity with webpack and other build systems
  • Collaborative and adaptable mindset
  • Openness and authenticity combined with excellent communication skills
  • Excitement and enthusiasm for open source and for better internet security
  • Excellent problem-solving skills – you might not know all the answers, but you know how to find and communicate the solution
