Opportunity:

Deepgram is looking for a backend software engineer to lead the design and implementation of Deepgram’s internal data and ML training systems. You will design and implement secure, robust, and scalable services for data cataloging, querying, and access; efficient, distributed compute orchestration for ML training jobs; integrations with Research tooling, and more. Your skill at building highly reusable code that overcomes technical challenges will be paired with an intuition for what improves researcher productivity and model quality. You will be a critical voice in Deepgram’s Product, Data, and Engineering teams, driving high impact products from start to finish.

What You’ll Do

  • Improve Deepgram’s core data ingestion, cataloging, and transformation services including areas in networking, speech processing, audio transcoding, and latency and memory optimization
  • Engineer ML training code to be performant and highly extensible, rapidly enabling large-scale training of new foundational model architectures
  • Develop processes for measuring, building, and optimizing services to maximize system performance
  • Debug complex system issues that include networking, scheduling, database, and other persistence store interactions
  • Partner with DataOps and Research to design and implement new services, features, and/or products end to end

  • A high level of experience and understanding of version control; preferably git.
  • Comprehensive experience with UNIX-style systems.

It Would Be Great if You Had

  • Experience with modern machine learning, such as experience with a framework like Torch or implementation knowledge of architectures like CNNs, RNNS, and transformers
  • Experience with audio processing

As a Data Scientist, you will work side-by-side with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Software Engineers to design, build, and deploy ML models that automate content creation and power a smarter product assortment.

This is a role for someone who has a strong background in applied ML, particularly in NLP, classification, or recommendation systems, and is hungry to solve complex catalog problems at scale. You will drive hypotheses, validate model accuracy, and bring ML-powered services for attribute enrichment, product categorization, and assortment curation into production with real business impact.

Your mission:

  • Design, experiment, and deploy AI/ML models/Agents to automate the enrichment and moderation of product attributes at scale.
  • Drive experimentation: formulate hypotheses, validate model performance , analyze business impact, and turn insights into production-ready models.
  • Develop and provide ML models to intelligently curate the product assortment, including attribute extraction, product categorization, category tree recommendations, and the curation of high-impact featured categories.
  • Keep yourself up to date and apply state-of-the-art models (e.g., in NLP, deep learning, classification, LLMs/AI agents) to see what truly works best for our catalog automation.
  • Collaborate closely with MLEs and Engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and fast in production.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industry experience applying Data Science and Machine Learning in production, ideally in large-scale consumer-facing applications.
  • Deep expertise in building and deploying ML models, particularly in Natural Language Processing (NLP), classification, recommendation systems and LLMs or agentic frameworks.
  • Strong statistical foundations and ability to distinguish signal from noise in large-scale experimentation and model validation.
  • Excellent engineering skills: write clean, maintainable Python code; experience bringing ML models into production with best practices for observability, monitoring, and performance.
  • Experience with large-scale ML model validation, experimentation, and A/B testing.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and product stakeholders, translating business problems into data science solutions.

Nice to have:

  • PhD in AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience scaling catalog automation or content generation systems across multiple markets and heterogeneous platforms.
  • Experience in designing or building Agentic AI systems.

Global Public Policy & Government Affairs Pillar:

The role will be responsible for public policy advocacy, government and regulatory affairs within the EU and globally. You will lead political positioning and will be responsible for managing and growing the Public Policy and Government Affairs team across the three brands.

  • You develop and maintain excellent working relationships with political bodies, policymakers, administrative authorities and non-governmental organizations on policy topics related to our business operations.

Deepgram is seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to support our growing, remote-first organization. This inaugural HRBP role will partner closely with leaders of all levels and employees across the company to support employee relations, performance management, manager effectiveness, and scalable people practices.

Reporting to the Head of People, the HRBP works cross-functionally with leaders, People Ops, Legal, Finance, and Recruiting to ensure people programs, policies, and processes are effective, compliant, and aligned with business needs. This is a highly collaborative role for someone who brings strong judgment, navigates complexity with confidence, and helps teams perform at a high level in a fast-moving environment.

Occasional travel is expected to attend company offsites and team meetings at Deepgram offices as needed throughout the year.

What You’ll Do

Employee Relations & Manager Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including performance concerns, interpersonal issues, investigations, and complex workplace scenarios
  • Coach managers through difficult conversations, feedback delivery, performance management, and documentation
  • Provide consistent, fair, and legally sound guidance across key employee lifecycle moments

Business & Leadership Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on people-related risks, decisions, and trade-offs
  • Partner with the Head of People to translate company strategy into people practices that are right-sized for scale
  • Identify patterns and systemic issues early and recommend practical, upstream interventions
  • Serve as a change partner to leaders, helping design, position, and operationalize organizational changes to drive understanding, adoption, and trust.

Performance & Manager Effectiveness

  • Support performance management processes, goal-setting, feedback cycles, and manager capability building
  • Partner with leaders on team structure, talent and succession planning, and ways of working that enable strong performance and sustainable growth
  • Help managers navigate underperformance, role clarity challenges, and organizational change
  • Reinforce a culture of high performance without unnecessary bureaucracy

Process, Systems & Scale

  • Help build and refine People processes, templates, documentation, and manager resources
  • Partner on tools and workflows that improve consistency, efficiency, and employee experience
