Job Description

The Staff Engineer (Lead Software Engineer) helps own and evolve one or more product verticals on a Kotlin/JVM, event-oriented platform that powers self-service business and commerce for Inductive Automation's customers and partners. Working closely with engineering and product leadership, you'll help define and evolve technical direction and lead the design processes that turn ambiguous needs into shipped, operable systems. You'll contribute meaningfully across the full delivery lifecycle, evaluation and trade-off analysis, domain and data modeling, architectural design, implementation planning, hands-on implementation, deployment, and operational ownership, and raise the level of the engineers around you as you do it. This is a full-time role with onsite, hybrid, or remote opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating success leading large, strategic, or complex areas that have clear impact to the success of Inductive Automation
  • Helping evolve architectural direction for one or more verticals and contribute to cross-cutting platform concerns, moving the system toward it incrementally
  • Leading the design lifecycle: requirements discovery → RFC/PRD → design → implementation plan → delivery → deployment → operation. Maintaining decision records
  • Developing and evolving domain and data models; defining context boundaries and mappings
  • Delivering projects with broad organizational impact; decomposing them into well-scoped, maintainable pieces for the team
  • Quickly analyzing and resolving tactical issues across a wide variety of areas
  • Maintaining deep technical domain knowledge of the platform's apps, services, contexts, and frameworks
  • Designing systems, frameworks, and platform interfaces/APIs intended to succeed long-term across module and service boundaries.
  • Improving developer workflow, tooling, and deployment in ways that measurably aid delivery velocity (this isn't a CD-focused role, but velocity is a first-class concern)
  • Using negotiation and patience to collaborate with other senior leaders, ensuring progress and setting the example for others
  • Collaborating across teams and disciplines to resolve technical debates and reach durable decisions; using influence and patience with other senior contributors
  • Mentoring engineers on distributed-systems design, event-sourced/CQRS patterns, JVM/runtime reasoning, data modeling, and engineering judgment
  • Influencing senior leaders on engineering strategy
  • Defining technical strategy and executes to improve products, infrastructure, processes, or organizations
  • Completing thoughtful and constructive code reviews in a timely manner
  • Participating in the hiring process, as needed (by submitting referrals, meeting candidates, attending recruiting events, or presenting externally)
  • Participating in conducting engineering interviews, as needed
  • Responsible for one or more product areas or other IC leadership role (Product Lead, Scrum Master)

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to document issues, designs, and trade-offs clearly and concisely (RFC/PRD-quality writing)
  • 12 years of general software engineering industry experience
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong programming skills on the JVM, Java required; Kotlin strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of JVM compile-time and run-time semantics, with the ability to reason about concurrency and performance
  • Experience in distributed-system design and trade-off analysis, beyond RESTful CRUD / entity-oriented microservices
  • Experience with asynchronous, event-oriented architecture
  • A demonstrated, articulate understanding of the system-design implications of distributed CQRS and/or event-sourced systems, able to speak to the trade-offs
  • Strong data and domain modeling skills, including bounded-context definition and context mapping
  • Proficiency with SQL and the relational-modeling judgment behind it
  • Demonstrated track record of full-lifecycle product delivery, a meaningful or leading role in evaluation, modeling, architectural design, implementation planning, implementation, deployment, and operational management
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate a large, unfamiliar codebase and a non-trivial architectural paradigm, and become productive quickly
  • Experience designing platform-wide interfaces/APIs and reasoning about codebase modularity and boundary enforcement
  • Ability to translate business goals into effective designs and implementation plans
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies such as SCRUM
  • Familiarity with source control management systems such as Github
  • Ability to accurately and effectively document ideas and specifications

At Boldin, we believe financial confidence should be accessible to everyone. Money decisions shape our lives, yet too often people are left without the clarity or tools they need to make informed choices. We exist to change that.

Boldin is a comprehensive financial planning platform that helps people understand their financial picture, make smarter decisions with their money and time, and plan for the future with confidence.

With over $20M raised and strong momentum, Boldin is entering a pivotal phase of growth. This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven team and help shape the future.

About This Role

Boldin helps people plan for and live a confident retirement. The Time to Value (TTV) team owns the top of the funnel — the experience from a visitor's first touch through registration, onboarding, account linking, trial, and conversion to a paying subscriber. It's where prospective members decide whether Boldin is worth their trust, so the work is equal parts product polish and reliable, integration-heavy engineering.

We're hiring a Full Stack Engineer to strengthen this team. Much of the funnel runs on third-party integrations — payment platforms, financial account aggregation, lifecycle messaging, and analytics — and we need someone who is comfortable owning that connective tissue end-to-end, from a React/TypeScript front end through a Ruby on Rails back end to the webhooks that tie external services together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the registration, onboarding, checkout, and conversion flows that move visitors to activated, paying members.
  • Own integrations across the funnel: payment platforms, lifecycle/marketing messaging, and product analytics — including the webhook handlers and gateway services that keep them in sync.
  • Contribute to the ongoing payments migration (consolidating multiple legacy payment platforms onto our primary processor) and help simplify a multi-gateway billing setup.
  • Work across the stack: React/TypeScript on the front end, Ruby on Rails on the back end, with the data and webhook plumbing in between.
  • Partner with product, design, and the broader engineering org to instrument and improve top-of-funnel conversion, grounded in analytics.
  • Write tested, maintainable code and participate in code review.

What you'll work on

The funnel touches a broad set of external systems. You won't need experience with all of them, but this is the landscape:

  • Payments & billing: multiple platforms today (primary processor plus legacy gateways and cart/checkout tools), with an active migration to consolidate them. Subscription lifecycle, webhooks, and tax handling.
  • Financial-account aggregation: linking members' real financial accounts during onboarding — a core, trust-critical part of the product.
  • Lifecycle & support messaging: in-app messaging/support, marketing automation, and transactional email.
  • Analytics & experimentation: product analytics and a customer-data pipeline used to measure and improve funnel conversion.

KPIS + Targets

  • Trial Cancels
  • Subscriber Churn
  • Stakeholder NPS
  • Integration cost efficiency

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily backend.
  • Strong experience with a server-side framework and relational database (we use Ruby on Rails; comparable experience is fine if you're eager to pick up Rails).
  • Strong experience building webhook-driven, third-party API integrations, with sound reasoning about failure, retries, and idempotency.
  • Working proficiency with a modern JS/TypeScript front-end framework (we use React) — comfortable contributing to the front end when the work calls for it.
  • A pragmatic eye for the user experience, especially in high-stakes flows like signup and payment.

Strong plus

  • Experience with financial-account aggregation providers (Plaid, Finicity, Yodlee, or similar).
  • Ruby on Rails experience.
  • Experience migrating or consolidating payment/billing systems.
  • Background in fintech, financial services, or another domain with sensitive user data and compliance considerations.
  • Familiarity with CRM, lifecycle, or analytics tooling (Intercom, ActiveCampaign, Segment, or similar) — these are learnable on the job.
  • Experience optimizing top-of-funnel conversion and running experiments.

Our stack

  • Front end: React, TypeScript, Material-UI, Redux, SWR (Yarn workspaces monorepo)
  • Back end: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Sidekiq
  • Integrations: Stripe, Braintree, ChargeDesk, Plaid, Intercom, Segment, and more
  • Infra & data: AWS, plus a data pipeline for analytics

Salary Range

  • $160,000 - 195,000 DOE
  • We want to be as inclusive as possible in our hiring process. If you don’t have 100% of what we’re looking for, but feel like you’re pretty close to growing into the role — please still apply. If a candidate has only 80% of the skills but a fantastic attitude and perspective, they might be the perfect fit.
  • Boldin values the unique perspectives and contributions of all individuals and we strive to foster a diverse and inclusive culture. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including and not limited to people of any race, ethnicity, or national origin, individuals with differing abilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, gender minorities, women and people from underrepresented communities. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations for applicants with differing abilities throughout the recruitment process. If you require any accommodations, please let us know, and we will work with you to meet your needs. We are committed to fostering an environment where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work. If you are comfortable doing so we invite you to share your preferred pronouns in your application.

We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to own retention and engagement for PlannerPlus, our subscription product. Acquisition brings people to Boldin; you make sure they stay, return, and keep getting value for years — because their plan keeps getting better and their confidence keeps growing.

Your mandate is bigger than reducing churn. Today, Boldin is the best DIY financial planning tool on the market, and our most engaged users are planning enthusiasts. The next chapter is bringing CFP-level capabilities to everyone: making sophisticated planning so delightful and approachable that a much wider market can build, trust, and act on a real financial plan.

You will own the experience that makes that possible — from the moments a subscriber feels clarity, confidence, or relief, to the habits that bring them back, to the depth that keeps them for a decade. This is a senior, high-accountability role with real ambiguity. You won’t inherit a perfectly scoped roadmap; you will form a strong point of view from customers and data, hold it firmly until something better comes along, and move without waiting for certainty that isn’t coming.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own retention end-to-end. Define the retention metrics that matter, understand why subscribers stay and why they leave, and fix root causes — in the product, not just the cancellation flow. Ensure growth upstream translates into customers who are durably better off, not top-line gains lost to churn.
  • Drive meaningful engagement. Identify the engagement signals that actually predict long-term retention, then design toward them. Build the rituals and return moments — plan check-ins, life-event updates, progress milestones — that make Boldin a habit, not a one-time exercise.
  • Bring CFP capabilities to everyone. Partner with Design, Engineering, and our financial planning experts to translate professional-grade planning (tax strategy, drawdown, Roth conversions, insurance, estate basics) into experiences everyday people can understand and act on — without dumbing down the modeling that makes Boldin trustworthy.
  • Broaden the market through delight. Make the planning experience approachable for people who would never call themselves “planners,” while preserving the depth our power users love. Balance education, friction, and simplicity thoughtfully.
  • Run customer-driven discovery. Spend real time with customers — many of them older than you, at emotional moments in their financial lives. Synthesize qualitative insight with quantitative signal, and turn it into focused bets with clear success criteria.
  • Be rigorous about measurement. Run experiments that answer important questions, not just easy ones. Use cohort, funnel, and lifecycle analysis to sharpen judgment — not outsource it.
  • Tell the story. Bring executives, Design, Engineering, Marketing, and Data along with a clear narrative of ongoing subscriber value. Raise the bar for how the whole organization thinks about retention, engagement, and customer outcomes.

KPIS + Targets

  • Trial Cancels
  • Subscriber Churn
  • Engagement Metrics (DAU/WAU/MAU)

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of B2C product management experience with clear ownership of retention, engagement, or lifecycle outcomes, preferably in personal finance
  • Experience with subscription products and a deep understanding of subscription economics
  • Good product sense, strong point of view, low ego — you form opinions from customers, data, and experience, and engage in direct, respectful debate to get to the best answer, not to win
  • Highly competent and self-directing — you know what to do without being asked and own your domain
  • Data and analytical rigor: fluent in cohort, funnel, and experiment analysis; comfortable making hard calls with imperfect information
  • A good storyteller and a highly collaborative partner across Design, Engineering, Data, and executives
  • High empathy for people unlike you — in this cause most likely people older than you; you understand financial decisions are emotional and human, not just analytical
  • Genuine passion for personal finance and our market
  • Soul for startup culture: you thrive in ambiguity and deliver high output without sacrificing quality

Preferred: experience making complex or expert-domain products accessible to mainstream audiences; background in fintech or alongside CFPs/advisors; fluency with modern AI tools

    • Fintech or payments background; experience integrating with bank or financial institution network edges
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure and tools like AWS CDK
    • PCI DSS or SOC 2 technical control implementation
    • Prior experience on a small or early-stage security team

Nozomi is looking for a Revenue Operations Analyst to own the accuracy, hygiene, and integrity of our GTM data, and to turn that data into reporting and analysis that Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Executive leadership can trust and act on. This role will be centered around: (1) Data — owning data hygiene, governance, and process integrity across our GTM systems; and (2) Analytics — building reporting and analysis that supports Sales and executive stakeholder.

In this role, you will:

---------------------------

  • Own the accuracy, cleanliness, and integrity of GTM data across Salesforce and related systems — identifying and correcting data quality issues, closing gaps, and preventing recurrence
  • Define and maintain data hygiene standards, field definitions, and governance processes so the organization works from a single, trusted source of truth
  • Build and maintain reusable data models and dataset pipelines that support reliable, repeatable reporting
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports (Power BI and/or similar BI tools) to support Sales and executive stakeholders
  • Conduct analyses on pipeline, forecasting, conversion, win/loss, and productivity to surface trends and recommend action
  • Automate recurring reporting workflows and replace manual spreadsheets with scalable, governed BI solutions
  • Document data definitions, KPI logic, and reporting processes; train end users on dashboards and self-serve analytics best practices
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks in data and reporting workflows, and recommend improvements to data architecture, tooling, and processes
  • Grow into a Customer Success analytics and operations advisor — supporting CS reporting, health-score/renewal analysis, and ad-hoc analytics

Critical Skills:

----------------

  • Strong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset — comfortable owning data hygiene and governance as a core responsibility, not an afterthought
  • Hands-on experience building production dashboards in Power BI and/or Tableau
  • Strong proficiency with DAX and Power Query (M) for data modeling and calculations
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (star/snowflake schemas, fact/dimension design, semantic layers)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce data structures, data governance, and reporting
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, Power Query)
  • Data storytelling and visualization skills, with the ability to translate analyses into clear, decision-ready narratives
  • Customer-centric, can-do attitude with the initiative and confidence to drive projects to completion with limited supervision
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet tight timelines
  • Experience with SQL, cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks), Python or R, and version control (Git) is a plus
  • Exposure to Customer Success metrics (health scores, renewals, churn/retention analysis) is a plus

Requirements:

-------------

  • 3-5 years of experience in a data, reporting, analytics, or BI-focused role, ideally supporting Sales, GTM, or Revenue Operations
  • Demonstrated experience owning data quality, hygiene, or governance processes
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with business stakeholders to translate needs into reliable, scalable analytics solutions
  • Ability to work effectively with AI-assisted tools while applying sound professional judgement and accountability for outputs
  • Demonstrable experience using AI-enabled tools as part of day-to-day work activities to improve efficiency, quality, or decision-making
  • BA/BS degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline)

ABOUT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER

The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education, and advocacy.

We believe jazz is a metaphor for Democracy. Because jazz is improvisational, it celebrates personal freedom and encourages individual expression. Because jazz is swinging, it dedicates that freedom to finding and maintaining common ground with others. Because jazz is rooted in the blues, it inspires us to face adversity with persistent optimism.

Jazz is one of America’s most profound and enduring cultural contributions, inseparable from the story of this country, its history, its struggles, its democratic ideals, and its continuing evolution. We are stewards of that legacy. The three pillars of our work—performanceeducation, and advocacy—are one mission expressed three ways, each reinforcing and requiring the other two. You cannot perform without honoring the history that gives the music meaning. You cannot educate without the conviction that what you are teaching deserves to outlast you. You cannot advocate without the lived experience of the art itself. We look for people who feel that wholeness in full, across all three pillars.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The IT Help Desk Technician II serves as an advanced technical resource within the IT support team, responsible for resolving escalated technical issues that require deeper troubleshooting and analysis. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of desktop systems, applications, hardware, and network connectivity from our administrative offices at Columbus Circle to our world-class venue, in Fredrick P. Rose Hall.

This role demands strong technical expertise paired with the patience and clarity to diplomatically walk a non-technical user through a technical fix. You will work collaboratively with internal departments, vendors, and senior IT staff to identify root causes, implement long-term solutions, and improve support processes and documentation.

In addition to daily operational support, this role contributes to IT projects, system rollouts, user training initiatives, and knowledge base development to enhance organizational efficiency and improve the overall end-user experience. When the orchestra takes the stage at Rose Theater or a livestream reaches a global audience, the technology behind it has to work. This role’s contributions to IT projects, system rollouts, training, and documentation directly support the audience and business partner experience of the world’s premier jazz organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for hardware, software, operating systems, printers, mobile devices, conferencing systems, and network-related issues.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated support tickets from level one technician while ensuring timely communication, documentation, and follow-up with end users.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical problems involving user accounts, permissions, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, networking, VPN connectivity, file access, and endpoint management.
  • Analyze system and network performance issues by reviewing logs, running diagnostic tools, and identifying root causes of recurring technical problems.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including workstation setup, account provisioning, hardware deployment, software installation, and access management.
  • Maintain enterprise technology infrastructure, including desktops, laptops, AV systems, printers, wireless connectivity, and remote access tools.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff and external vendors on system upgrades, deployments, maintenance activities, and special technology projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and internal knowledge base articles to support consistent service delivery.
  • Provide user guidance and training on software applications, collaboration tools, cybersecurity awareness, and IT best practices.
  • Monitor recurring issues and recommend process improvements, automation opportunities, and technology enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce support volume.
  • Accurately record incidents, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, asset inventory, and system changes within the IT service management platform.
  • Troubleshoot AV and connectivity for conference rooms, live events, and organizational meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Help Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Exchange, endpoint management tools, VPN technologies, and common business applications.
  • Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with ticketing systems, remote support tools, and IT asset management platforms.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral issues independently and efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and work collaboratively across departments.

PREFERRED

  • Experience supporting conference room technology, audiovisual systems, or live event environments is a plus.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or Apple certifications are a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role operates in a fast-paced hybrid technology environment supporting both onsite and remote users. The position may occasionally require early morning, evening, or weekend support related to system maintenance, live events, or critical operational needs.

The Help Desk Technician II is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and technical competency while contributing to a collaborative and service-oriented IT culture.

WORKING AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER

The music is present here, literally and philosophically, and the people who thrive are the ones who feel that and lean into it. They are Fans, Advocates, Musicians, and Educators who know that you cannot shape what comes next without first honoring what came before — who ask why something is the way it is before they presume to know what it should become. They find their own work more meaningful because of its proximity to something larger, and they understand that excellence in any role, regardless of function, is connected to what happens on stage and in classrooms and communities around the world. The passion that runs through this organization can be felt on your first day, and it is the thing people miss most when they leave.

We are a live-events organization, and our schedule reflects that energy: we expect full presence when the work and the art call for it. Within that, we strive to create real flexibility for our people. Flex Mondays give staff the freedom to work from wherever suits them best, and Tuesday through Friday our teams come together in person, with the understanding that the work and the art will sometimes ask for more. We trust our people to know the difference, and we build around that trust.

Benefits reflect the same investment in our people: comprehensive health, retirement, and a seat inside the life of this organization. Staff have access to the breadth of JALC programming—from live performances to access at Dizzy's Club to world-class jazz education through Swing University and beyond—because we believe the people who do this work deserve to experience it, not just support it.

  • Work across the stack, from backend services and APIs to frontend interfaces
  • Take ownership of features and systems from early concept through production
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on new tools and product features
  • Improve reliability, usability, and scalability as early tools grow into production systems

AI & Intelligent Systems

  • Integrate modern AI capabilities such as LLMs, retrieval systems, and embeddings into applications
  • Build tools that help users navigate and work with complex information
  • Contribute to systems that combine data pipelines, search, and AI-driven functionality
  • Use AI tools as a core part of your core development workflow to prototype, build, and iterate rapidly.

Systems & Infrastructure

  • Contribute to system architecture spanning data ingestion, transformation, and application delivery
  • Build and maintain services that integrate multiple data sources and external APIs
  • Help design systems that balance rapid iteration with long-term reliability and maintainability

Collaboration

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and researchers to develop useful tools
  • Contribute to technical decisions and engineering practices within a small team
  • Share knowledge and help establish effective engineering workflows

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience and a track record of designing, building, and shipping production software used by real users
  • Experience building products or systems from 0→1, owning the process from early concept through design, development, and production launch.
  • Experience with modern web development frameworks, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
  • Be familiar with modern engineering workflows, including CI/CD, containerization, and observability
  • Be comfortable incorporating AI tools into development workflows
  • Bring interest in civic technology, social impact, or public-interest work

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Full-Stack Engineering Experience: Experience designing and shipping software used by real users
  • AI Integration Experience: Familiarity with LLMs, retrieval-based systems, or modern AI tooling and comfort using AI tools to accelerate development and experimentation
  • Data Systems Familiarity: Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and structured or unstructured datasets
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to design systems that can evolve and scale over time
  • Collaborative Development: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-moving environment

$230,000 - $245,000 a year

This is an exempt position.

What will you be doing?

---

At Spade, data is the product — and you'll be one of the people shaping it. As a Data Scientist, you'll build the real-time ML/AI systems that power how top fintechs and financial institutions understand every transaction: from traditional ML and NLP models to AI agents, all running on our proprietary merchant, location, and transaction datasets. Your work won't sit in a research silo — you'll partner closely with engineering and product to take ideas from prototype to production, directly shaping the accuracy, speed, and intelligence customers like FIS, Bilt, Mercury, and Stripe rely on every day.

  • Own the full lifecycle of ML/AI products. From first prototype to production system serving real customers
  • Build the automated systems behind Spade's data quality. The models and pipelines that keep our accuracy and coverage ahead of the market
  • Set the bar for how ML gets built here. Pushing for models that are not just accurate, but scalable, robust, and production-ready from day one
  • Help shape where the data science team goes next. Partnering directly with leadership on roadmap and priorities (Senior role)
  • Grow the team around you. Mentoring other data scientists and raising the practices we build on (Senior role)

Note: We're hiring for both Mid and Senior levels across multiple openings; exact level is determined during the interview process.

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?

  • 3+ years building and shipping models in Python, in a fast-paced environment (5+ for senior)
  • Worked hands-on with engineering and product, not just in a research silo
  • Strong ML, stats, and data fundamentals (PySpark, pandas, SQL)
  • A product mindset — you navigate ambiguity and optimize for customer value, not just model accuracy
  • A collaborative streak — you take feedback well and care about the team's success, not just your own
  • An AI-forward workflow — coding assistants and LLMs are part of how you already work, and you're excited to push further

Additional for Senior

  • 5+ years, with end-to-end ownership of ML/AI products from idea to production
  • Shipped ML/AI-powered products, ideally customer-facing
  • A track record of mentoring and raising team standards

Nice to have

  • Databricks, data pipelines, Hex
  • Gen AI feature/product development
  • Fintech experience — especially transaction, merchant, or location data
  • Early-stage, high-growth startup experience

Overview

The Staff Software Engineer sets the technical direction for the platform that education leaders across the country rely on, working hands-on across the full stack to ship production AI systems and independently own the architecture behind them.

Working directly alongside the Co-Founder and CTPO, this engineer operates with minimal oversight and brings the technical judgment to set and defend architecture, tooling, and direction with real authority.

Your charge: architect the infrastructure for how leaders learn and lead.

About Seminar

Seminar is a Human-powered, AI-supported learning community for education leaders around the world. We help leaders sharpen their practice, expand their capacity, and build the schools of the future - together.

Our Mission

Seminar exists to unleash collective genius and accelerate the future of education. We design learning experiences that meet leaders where they are, strengthen day-to-day leadership practice, and create the conditions for innovation to take root and scale.

Role Overview

You’ll be getting in at the ground level, working directly alongside the founders to build out the next generation of products supporting our vibrant nationwide community of school leaders. This is a senior, hands-on role with high ownership and real influence into how we build what we build - both in the technology and the engineering culture we create as we grow. We're looking for someone with deep, hands-on experience shipping production AI systems who can evaluate technical tradeoffs independently and operate with minimal oversight.

You will report directly to the CTPO and Co-Founder, who leads product and technical strategy and builds hands-on alongside you! You’ll have real autonomy and the expectation that you will independently set and defend architecture, tooling, and technical direction.

Our goal is to build a platform that education leaders across the country rely on - and that powers Seminar’s growth. You will have a real impact on this from day one!

What You’ll Work On

Product Engineering

  • Build, ship, and support user-facing features across the full stack - frontend, backend, data pipelines, infrastructure, testing, and monitoring. Our growing product suite includes a web app, browser extension, and AI tools, and you should be comfortable touching them all.
  • Make final technical decisions about architecture, tooling, and third-party services at a pace that matches early-stage reality.
  • Contribute to product thinking - while not your primary responsibility, you should be comfortable occasionally speaking to users and helping translate ideas into product specs that support both customer and business needs.

AI & Platform

  • Lead the design and implementation of AI-powered workflows: things like integrating LLM APIs, building RAG pipelines, virtual context-driven assistants, and agentic systems.
  • Work in close partnership with the Program team to ensure tight alignment between platform capabilities and the learning experiences leaders depend on.
  • Help improve how we evaluate and iterate on our customer-facing AI tools, always with an eye towards enhancing - not replacing - human thinking.

Engineering Culture & Operations

  • Influence the developer experience end-to-end - from local dev to testing to CI/CD to production monitoring.
  • Establish and own engineering practices, documentation, and standards that will scale as the team grows.

Who You Are

  • A well-rounded engineer with 8+ years of experience building and shipping production applications across the full stack in fast-paced environments.
  • Experienced in JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems. Our stack is JS-focused front and back, and while we are likely to fold in some Python with our expanding AI capabilities, JS will always have a place!
  • Uses AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) as a core part of how you build. You direct the AI with clear intent, catch subtle errors or design decisions that will cause problems down the road, and take ownership of the architecture and tradeoffs regardless of who or what wrote the code.
  • Familiarity with the AWS cloud ecosystem.
  • Product-minded. You think about the person on the other end of what we build, not just the thing itself.
  • A clear communicator and collaborative partner across multiple business functions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and high ownership.
  • Motivated by building things that make a difference.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with our current stack: Vue.js (v3, Composition API), Node.js, Hono, Postgres (on RDS) with Drizzle, Voiceflow.
  • Background in edtech, education, or similar mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience working closely with product or founding teams in a startup or high-growth environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $150K-$210K base salary, based on experience and competencies
  • Meaningful early-stage equity
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Learning and development stipend (plus company-paid AI-assisted development tools)
  • Generous PTO
  • Fully remote (US-based)

Our Commitment to an Inclusive Team

Seminar serves school leaders in every kind of community - urban, rural, and suburban; well-resourced and under-resourced. Building a product worthy of that mission requires a team that reflects the diversity of the people we serve.

We are female-founded and strongly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including communities historically underrepresented in the technology industry not limited to people of color, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and veterans. If you’re excited about this role but unsure whether you meet every qualification, we’d still love to hear from you.

We evaluate candidates based on demonstrated ability and potential - not pedigree or proxies for privilege. We don’t require computer science degrees and design our process to let you show us how you think and work.

Why Seminar

This is a rare opportunity to help define how AI transforms leadership learning across the education sector. You’ll work side by side with the founders to build a platform that leaders rely on - one that improves real practice, strengthens communities, and scales impact thoughtfully.

System1 (NYSE: SST) is an omnichannel customer acquisition marketing platform powered by AI and machine learning. Our proprietary Responsive Acquisition Marketing Platform (RAMP) uses data science and real-time bidding to match high-intent consumers with advertisers at scale. We operate a portfolio of consumer-facing brands across search, shopping, and travel — including Startpage, MapQuest, and CouponFollow — and build the apps, search engines, and online publications that power them.

Startpage (part of System1) is the world's most private search engine. We deliver high-quality search results through a privacy-preserving proxy layer that strips identifying information before queries leave our infrastructure. Users get the search experience they expect without being tracked, profiled, or targeted.

Startpage is looking for a full-stack Senior Software Developer to work alongside our existing team. This is a full-time, on-site position with the expectation of a 40-hour work week from our Bellevue, WA office.

At a high level, Startpage engineers work with our product team to build out new features on our roadmap, primarily for our private search engine, our flagship product. We also help to shape architectural decisions, while proactively tackling tech debt, bugs, and other engineering tasks. All developers at Startpage work with a wide variety of languages, tools, and technologies across all parts of the stack. Generally, day-to-day work across our stack includes mostly Python and JavaScript.

We are a small but fast-moving, adaptable team, and we are rapidly iterating our products to meet the ever-changing demands of the open internet in the world of AI. The team is distributed across time zones in North America and Europe. While we don’t maintain a strict schedule, everyone on the team overlaps their days for 4-5 hours so we can all work together for a portion of our day.

Ideal candidates for this role are self-starters who take initiative and learn things quickly, are flexible in dealing with rapidly evolving technical requirements, and have a good eye for balancing quality, output volume, and complexity. Startpage developers are expected to oversee their work from tickets to production deployments and monitoring, and should feel confident and comfortable releasing changes to a highly-trafficked, internationally distributed web product multiple times per week.

Given Startpage is a privacy-focused product, previous experience working on a privacy-focused web product would be an asset, but is not a hard requirement. Similarly, our developers are expected to have a high level of attention to detail in order to maintain the privacy of our users, which we take very seriously. Engineering at Startpage means working on systems where privacy is a real architectural constraint, not a marketing line. This role also requires participation in our emergency on-call rotation.

This position is a hybrid role requiring you to work out of our Bellevue, WA office located at 10800 NE 8th Street Suite 200 Bellevue, WA 98004.

Technical Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Excellent communications skills, strong command of the English language
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building and operating production web services at scale.
  • Deep understanding of HTTP and all of its moving parts: front-ends, back-ends, serving infrastructure, DNS, etc.
  • Good understanding of REST API architectures, both writing them and consuming them.
  • Experience with JavaScript (TypeScript/Node.js/React), modern CSS, and HTML.
  • Experience with Python—our backend services are predominantly written in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm in a multi-region production environment and a good working knowledge of K8s concepts.
  • Proficient with Docker and containerized service development.
  • Experience with Redis and/or similar caching strategies in latency-sensitive systems.
  • Comfortable with modern CI/CD tooling (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions).
  • Experience with monitoring and instrumenting services such as New Relic, Datadog, Cloudwatch, etc.
  • Strong automated testing experience and discipline (unit, integration, and end-to-end tests).
  • Experience with AI coding tools and a good understanding of when it is appropriate to move quickly with these tools versus when it is important for human oversight.
  • Experience with AWS or other modern cloud provider(s) for serving well-architected, scalable web applications.
  • Any background or previous experience in search, ad tech, or browser-facing privacy products would be an asset but not a must.

What We Have To Offer:

  • Competitive salary + bonus + equity
  • Generous PTO + 11 company holidays
  • Open sick time
  • 100% covered Medical, Dental, Vision for employees
  • 401k with match
  • Health & Dependent Care Flex Spending Account
  • Paid professional development
  • Leadership & growth opportunities
  • Virtual company and team building events

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $133,000 - 170,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. System1 provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.

About Startpage:

Startpage is System1’s flagship privacy technology brand, delivering high-quality private search, browsing, and AI experiences to millions worldwide. Founded in the Netherlands and built on privacy-by-design, Startpage operates the world’s second-largest private search engine for users who demand a safer, better web.

Startpage is a profitable, scaled global business generating significant revenue, gross profit, and EBITDA, with a loyal and growing international user base.

Search is undergoing its most significant transformation in decades. AI is redefining how users discover information, how platforms monetize attention, and how digital businesses are built and operated. We are seeking a General Manager to lead Startpage’s AI transformation — rearchitecting product, growth, monetization, and operations to build the leading AI-native, privacy-first search platform globally.

Role Overview:

The General Manager is the full P&L owner of Startpage.  You will own and drive the operating plan and financial performance of a profitable business while aggressively evolving its strategy to compete in the AI-driven future of search.

This role requires balancing bold transformation with financial discipline — driving innovation while protecting profitability, brand trust, and capital efficiency.

The GM must view AI not as a feature layer, but as core infrastructure shaping product, growth systems, monetization, and operating workflows.  You will operate with an owner mentality — running Startpage as a standalone business with founder-level accountability, supported by the scale and resources of System1.

Core Mandate:

·   Transform Startpage into an AI-native search and discovery platform

·   Redefine privacy-first search experiences beyond traditional query-response models

·   Reinvent monetization models for AI-enhanced search

·   Embed AI into core operating workflows across product, marketing, analytics, and operations

·   Deliver sustained user and query growth while maintaining disciplined profitability

This position is an onsite role requiring you to work in our headquarters located at 4235 Redwood Ave. Los Angeles, CA  90066.

Growth & Distribution Acceleration:- Drive global user and query growth through product expansion, performance marketing, lifecycle initiatives, and content/community strategies.

  • Expand distribution via browsers, OEMs, privacy platforms, and publishers.
  • Originate, structure, negotiate, and close high-impact strategic partnerships.
  • Increase experimentation velocity through AI-assisted insights and automation.

AI-Native Product Reinvention:- Define and execute the long-term vision and multi-quarter roadmap for AI-enhanced, privacy-first search and browsing experiences.

  • Develop differentiated AI-powered user experiences within privacy-by-design principles.
  • Evaluate build, partner, and acquisition strategies for AI capabilities.
  • Ensure AI innovation enhances trust, transparency, and user control.

Monetization & Financial Discipline:- Reimagine monetization models for AI-enhanced search experiences.

  • Optimize yield with search, advertising, and feed partners while maintaining privacy alignment.
  • Drive disciplined forecasting, capital allocation, and margin management.
  • Improve unit economics and long-term scalability.
  • Deliver transformation while protecting EBITDA and financial resilience.

AI-Augmented Operating Model:- Redesign internal workflows to be AI-first across product, growth, analytics, and operations.

  • Shorten build-test-scale cycles through automation and intelligent tooling.

Leadership & Cultural Transformation:- Build and lead an AI-fluent, high-performance leadership team.

  • Foster a culture of experimentation, speed, accountability, and intelligent risk-taking.
  • Recruit and develop talent that thrives in AI-native environments.
  • Serve as a credible spokesperson for Startpage with users, partners, media, and the global privacy community.

What Success Looks Like (24–36 Months):- Meaningful acceleration in global DAU/MAU and query growth

  • Clear AI-differentiated product experiences
  • Faster product iteration cycles and experimentation velocity
  • Expanded global distribution partnerships
  • Improved monetization yield and scalable unit economics
  • AI embedded across core operating workflows
  • Strengthened market position as the leading scaled privacy-first alternative

What You’ll Bring:- 5+ years of experience in consumer internet, search, AI products, private search, or high-growth digital platforms.

  • 2+ years in a GM, Business Unit, or comparable P&L leadership role or as an entrepreneur.
  • Demonstrated experience within the past 12-18 months leading AI-driven product innovation or business transformation.
  • Proven ability to redesign operating models using AI and automation.
  • Strong understanding of growth systems, monetization mechanics, and partnership economics.
  • Financial acumen — able to build models, manage forecasts, and make capital-efficient decisions.
  • Technical fluency to partner effectively with engineering, product, and data teams.
  • Analytical, experimentation-driven mindset.
  • High bias for action — you test and learn rather than overanalyze.
  • Entrepreneurial operator who moves quickly and embraces calculated risk.
  • Mission alignment with privacy as a strategic competitive advantage.

Why This Role Is Unique:- A Profitable Platform at Scale - Startpage is not an early-stage startup. It is a profitable, global business with meaningful revenue, EBITDA, and a loyal user base.

  • True Transformation Mandate - This is not a caretaker role. You will define and execute the next chapter of private search in the AI era.
  • AI at the Core of Search - As search and AI converge, Startpage sits at the center of this evolution — offering the opportunity to shape the privacy-first alternative at global scale.
  • Founder-Level Autonomy - System1 operates its divisions as standalone businesses. As GM, you will run Startpage with founder-level autonomy, supported by the capital and infrastructure of a larger organization.

What We Have To Offer:- Competitive salary + bonus + equity

  • Generous PTO + 11 company holidays
  • Open sick time
  • 100% covered Medical, Dental, Vision for employees
  • 401k with match
  • Health & Dependent Care Flex Spending Account

System1 is building the next generation of AI Agent–powered consumer products, and we’re looking for a Lead AI Product Engineer to help lead the effort. You’ll design, build, and operate our most ambitious AI agent systems from early prototypes through production, owning core architecture, reliability, and performance as these products scale.

This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role for a builder who can move quickly from concept to working systems, shipping, iterating, and hardening real agent workflows that deliver consumer value at scale.

This role sits at the intersection of multi-agent orchestration, agentic coding, and production engineering, offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI while directly influencing real-world product outcomes and business performance.

You do not need prior experience with every protocol or framework listed below—we value strong systems thinking, production experience, and the ability to learn fast in emerging domains.

What You’ll Do:- Build and operate multi-agent systems that plan, coordinate, and execute tasks across multiple tools and services, to solve real user problems at scale.

  • Implement agentic coding workflows, where agents generate code, run tests, create diffs or PRs, and iterate autonomously within guardrails.
  • Design agent orchestration layers (planners, supervisors, evaluators) to manage task decomposition, retries, and long-running execution.
  • Instrument and monitor agent behavior across success, failure, latency, cost, and human overrides, with exposure to agent-to-tool payment flows as the ecosystem evolves.
  • Collaborate with Product & Design to translate user problems into shippable agent workflows, iterating quickly based on real-world feedback.

What You’ll Bring:- Strong experience building LLM-powered systems in production, including prompt engineering, structured outputs, tool/function calling, and agentic coding workflows where agents write, modify, and validate code within guardrails.

  • Solid backend engineering skills with Python and/or Node.js, designing APIs, async services, and background workers that support long-running, stateful agent workflows.
  • Experience designing multi-step, agent-driven execution loops (plan → act → evaluate → retry), with explicit state management, idempotency, and failure recovery.
  • Comfort with distributed systems primitives (queues, pub/sub, durable state, rate limiting, concurrency controls) required to coordinate agents at scale.
  • Proven ability to instrument and observe agent behavior, emitting structured events for task success, failures, retries, overrides, and code-generation outcomes.
  • Experience deploying and operating systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with inter-agent communication patterns, including message schemas, shared memory, blackboard systems, or event-driven coordination.
  • Experience implementing agent evaluation pipelines (prompt regression tests, simulation-based evals, automated scoring, human-in-the-loop review).
  • Understanding of cost-aware execution for agents (dynamic model routing, caching, batching, budget constraints).
  • Experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, and persistent memory strategies.
  • Exposure to emerging agent protocols (e.g., x402 payment flows, MCP), with the ability to implement evolving specs pragmatically.

Who You Are:- You operate with high urgency, agency, and a bias for action, translating ideas into working systems quickly, learning from real-world signals, and iterating continuously.

  • You pair speed with rigor, bringing strong engineering fundamentals (systems thinking, evaluation discipline, reliability) so each iteration is meaningfully better, not just different.
  • You embrace a “long is wrong” mindset, simplifying, automating, and removing bottlenecks to consistently reduce cycle time.
  • You think and act like an owner, making sound tradeoffs and taking end-to-end accountability for performance, reliability, cost, and user experience.
  • You optimize for technological leverage, building reusable primitives, tooling, and patterns that compound team output over time.
  • You are growth-minded, working backward from LTV/CAC and prioritizing engineering work that moves activation, retention, conversion, and cost per successful outcome.
  • You excel at constraint removal, unblocking execution and increasing innovation per unit time, including through agentic tool use with clear guardrails and observability.
