We’re Excited About You Because…

  • You have 5+ years of work experience and a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to maintain a high bar for craft at scale and experience leading new initiatives and creating high craft outputs in a team environment.
  • You think of yourself as a craftsperson and visual specialist driving quality, usually find yourself sweating over the lowest level of details and care about elevating the overall experience.
  • You are an excellent storyteller and thoughtful cross-functional partner, and can articulate complex topics clearly to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • You enjoy solving problems, use a "first principles" approach to Design, and aren’t afraid to try new things to create the future.

About the Role

--------------

The Solutions Architecture team at Metronome is a technical group that sits at the intersection of sales, growth, product, and R&D. In simple terms, we own the technical aspects of the customer lifecycle between after sales and before handoff to post-implementation teams.

As a member of the Solutions Architecture team, you’ll primarily be focused on ensuring customers successfully implement Metronome’s products and realize value quickly. This entails:

  • Using proficient discovery and scoping  to understand what challenges our clients face in billing, launching new products, pricing & packaging, quote-to-cash, customer experience, and related areas.
  • Doing whatever it takes to support clients throughout the entire implementation lifecycle, including requirements gathering, technical design, integration design, testing, data migration, and launch.
  • Providing expert guidance to clients regarding usage-based pricing and consumption business models.
  • Hands on configuration of Metronome’s system on behalf of clients
  • Designing integrations between Metronome’s APIs and the clients business systems to align to Metronome best practices (including CRM/ CPQ, Payments, Taxation, ERP, Billing Providers, Reporting and Analytics tools).
  • Acting as a  liaison between the field and Metronome R&D to advocate for client needs and feature requests.
  • Partnering with implementation managers and other project team members to provide visibility into progress and proactively identify risks and issues
  • Building relationships with people at our client organizations, from day-to-day operators to C-Suite executives. We believe in meeting our customers in-person whenever possible.
  • Designing integrations of Metronome into prospect systems and consultatively influencing the direction of our prospects’ pricing and packaging.
  • Ensuring a proper handoff to our post-implementation teams (Customer Success and Technical Support).

…all of this with prospects at the scale of our most strategic current customers (like Confluent, Databricks, OpenAI, and Anthropic). Expect these engagements to be complex, deep, technical, and most of all interesting. Metronome directly influences how the internet monetizes - AI is an obvious current example - and our group is on the front lines driving this influence with our prospects.

Metronome is a startup. As such, there’s a lot still to figure out and tremendous room for high-agency people to impact our direction and strategy, build processes from zero to one, and generally make a difference. If this excites you as much as it excites us, let’s talk.

Qualifications

--------------

This is roughly the set of things we’re looking for - if you’re interested in this role and don’t meet some of these on paper, err on the side of applying!

  • 5+ years of experience working in technical and/or customer-facing roles involving SaaS products (for example, roles like sales engineering, solutions architecture, technical account management).
  • Experience leading complex implementations with enterprise tech companies.
  • Experience in fast-moving startup environments that value high agency.
  • Ability to quickly learn and communicate technical concepts to technical, go-to-market, and finance stakeholders.
  • Excitement for building and improving GTM playbooks, processes, and reusable assets.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time (will vary depending on client needs)

Bonus Points

  • Deep knowledge of the quote-to-cash space, including integrating with or otherwise interacting with tools like Salesforce, NetSuite, CPQs, etc.
  • Experience as a software engineer, product manager, or in other technical roles.
  • Strong understanding of project management and program management fundamentals and principles
  • Experience working with users from one or more of the following personas: Finance/ CFO, Engineering/ CTO, Product/ CPO, Sales Ops/ CRO, and Billing Operations.
  • Experience with logs, metrics, billing, finance, or other infrastructure or financial tooling and concepts.

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this role is $149,600 - $210,000. In addition to your base salary, Metronome offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to market-benched equity, incentive pay, comprehensive health benefits, and other benefits listed below.

The actual base salary will vary based on factors including market value, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process, and previous experience. The listed range above should serve as a guideline and may be modified at any time.

We believe that compensation reflects the expected impact you will have at the company, relative to the market value of your role. About the Role

--------------

The Data Platform team is responsible for aggregating all of Metronome’s data and providing offline data computation in near real-time and batch. Our Data Platform is unique since it not only powers internal use-cases, but also some of our most critical products and customer-facing features—including Data Export (which transfers data into customers' data warehouses), in-app analytics and reporting, andinternal analytics. Our work directly powers financial workflows for companies like OpenAIAnthropicConfluent, and Databricks, enabling everything from revenue reconciliation and books close to regulatory reporting and forecasting.

Core Areas of Ownership

As an engineer on the Data Platform team, you'll ingest and process all of Metronome’s data and build a self-serve platform that enables other teams to create features and products on top of it. We view our role as force multipliers enabling products to be built faster and safer. You’ll help solve challenges like:

  • Scalability – Ingesting and processing all of Metronome’s event and usage data, transferring terabytes per day to customers with strict SLAs, and building infrastructure that scales with our growth.
  • Reliability & Data Integrity – Powering financial workflows where accuracy is non-negotiable—this data is used for books close, reconciliation, and compliance.
  • Performance & Latency – In usage-based businesses, revenue is dynamic and deeply tied to usage data. The faster we can aggregate and expose this data, the faster our customers can act—whether that’s forecasting, preventing overages, or adjusting pricing.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to enable and extend data-powered product features like: In-app analytics dashboards, Machine learning models to forecast revenue and recommend pricing and Custom reporting and usage breakdowns for end-customer finance teams

What You'll Do

--------------

  • Build batch and streaming pipelines capable of processing hundreds of thousands of events per second and generating millions of downstream records within a single job.
  • Build out capabilities and golden paths for other engineers to build features on top of our large data warehouse in a self-service manner.
  • Define and build the tools, systems and interfaces required for internal non-technical users to make business decisions on top of Metronome’s data (finance, product, go to market).
  • Influence the overall architecture of Metronome. Drive the technical direction around usage of batch, streaming and real time compute primitives. Shape how key technologies like Spark, Clickhouse, Dagster fit into our company-level strategy.

Qualifications

--------------

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building scalable infrastructure systems—whether distributed services, internal platforms, or foundational tooling.
  • Hands-on experience scaling distributed systems, with a deep understanding of performance, reliability, and fault tolerance—either as a senior individual contributor or technical lead.
  • Ownership of mission-critical production systems, with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, observability, and incident response.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with a track record of driving solutions across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams.
  • Proven success delivering high-impact projects in fast-paced, high-growth environments—navigating ambiguity, managing scope, and consistently landing quality outcomes.
  • Experience mentoring engineers across experience levels, fostering growth through code reviews, design discussions, and technical leadership.
  • Clear and thoughtful technical communication, whether writing design docs, participating in architecture reviews, or sharing context with non-engineering stakeholders.

We don't filter based on current expertise, so at Metronome you will learn:

  • AWS (S3, RDS, EKS, Athena, Lambda, Step Functions, and more!)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Serverless Framework)
  • Languages (Python, Typescript, Java - for working with Kafka)
  • CI/CD (AWS CodePipeline & CodeDeploy, CircleCI)

Compensation

The estimated base salary range for this role is $171,200 - $214,000. In addition to your base salary, Metronome offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched equity, sales incentive pay (for eligible roles), comprehensive health benefits, and other benefits listed below.
