Job Posted: 4/28/2025

Location: Americas Central Time (GMT-6) or Eastern Time (GMT-5), we are open to other locations but NOT other time zones.

We’re looking for an experienced Support Manager who will be responsible for our team aligned to the Central or Eastern (Americas) timezones. In this role, you'll support a Global Support team, and report to the Senior Manager of Global Support.

If you want to advance your career at a fast-growing, profitable, impact-driven company, read on…

About You

-------------

As a Manager in the Global Support organization, you play a critical role in both the day-to-day excellence and long-term evolution of how we support our customers at Zapier. You'll lead and mentor a team of Individual Contributors (with future potential to manage Team Leads), ensuring the delivery of world-class support and a consistently positive customer experience. This role requires a strong focus on performance management, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic contributions that align with both departmental and company-wide goals. At the core, you bring a deep sense of customer centricity—consistently putting the customer’s needs at the center of your decisions and advocating for what’s best for them. You genuinely enjoy working with our users directly and aren’t afraid to jump in—whether it’s through hands-on support, or solving issues side by side with your team. You thrive on making things easier, faster, and more impactful for our customers every day.

You are not only accountable for results—but for shaping how we get there. You’ll apply a strategic mindset to how your team operates, continuously identifying opportunities to improve customer experience, influence process efficiency, and evolve Support’s role as a value driver across the business.

Your leadership approach should combine clear performance expectations with a growth-forward mindset—developing team members through regular coaching, supporting their long-term career progression, and highlighting and celebrating meaningful impact. You’ll hold space for your team to thrive, while consistently raising the bar.

Cross-functional collaboration is critical, and you’ll build strong relationships across Product, Sales, Engineering, and Support Operations to proactively unblock issues, raise insights, and ensure Support is delivering at a high level. You’ll also lead and support key departmental projects, and consistently bring forward new ideas that align with Zapier’s strategic bets and our vision for fast and accurate support.

Above all, you’ll be a visible and engaged leader—balancing team coaching, customer insight, and strategic execution to ensure your team is set up to deliver exceptional results.

You’ve used AI tooling for work or personal use—or you are willing to dive in and learn fast. You explore new tools, workflows, and ideas to make things more efficient, and are eager to deepen your understanding of AI and use it regularly.

Key Responsibilities

------------------------

As a manager, your ability to adapt and allocate time effectively to different areas will be critical to your success and the success of your team.

  • Team performance: Leading and mentoring your team to provide exceptional support, with a focus on high performance and team member development. This includes coaching, performance tracking, conducting regular one-on-one sessions, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Customer Connection: Spending a minimum of 2 hours in customer facing queues each week to maintain product knowledge and hear from customers directly, ensuring you stay connected to the customer experience.
  • Operational excellence: Ensuring smooth operations and collaborating with other teams (such as Support Operations and Engineering). This involves optimizing processes and making sure your team is appropriately trained and following best practices.
  • Evolving Support as a business operator/owner: Driving and overseeing support projects aligned with company goals and strategy, and evolving your team’s workflows as Support scales. This includes planning, coordination, and ensuring high-quality deliverables on strategic projects.
  • Company strategy and business awareness: Understanding the company’s strategy and how your team’s efforts contribute to the overall mission. Keeping your team aligned with company goals and providing relevant updates and guidance as business priorities evolve.
  • Communication, Collaboration & Change Management: Building strong relationships with stakeholders and promoting a “first team” approach to problem-solving. Hosting team meetings, encouraging feedback and participation, and effectively leading your team through change initiatives.
  • Leader accountability & growth: Set aside time to track your impact, seek feedback, and regularly reflect on how you’re showing up as a leader. Demonstrate follow-through on your goals and actively develop your leadership craft.
  • Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity (DIBE): Promoting a diverse and inclusive team culture. Ensuring equitable opportunities for all team members and actively fostering a sense of belonging on your team.
  • Interviews (ad hoc): Interviews should take up less than 5% of your total time. Given current hiring plans, interview blocks should not be baked into your week and instead prepare for possible future batches of interviews by working through priorities with your Manager.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Team performance (directs and indirects)
  • Strategic impact & project execution
  • Customer experience & operational goals
  • Change leadership & team communication
  • Talent management & leadership accountability

Ideally, you find solutions that address both the team and user needs but if not, help build understanding around difficult decisions.
  • You are a skilled engineering leader. You've got a strong background in leading a team of Engineers working in our stack (Python, Django or React, ES6 or Node.js, etc.).  Even if you aren't a daily coder, you regularly exercise your coding muscles and try to be an asset in any technical context your team may need.

  • Occasionally dive into the code; fixing bugs, improving developer experience, smoothing edges -- sometimes even spiking out small proofs of concept.
  • Collaborate across various disciplines (Product Managers, Designers, Researchers) to help set technical roadmaps that will achieve business goals through engineering best practices.
  • Actively recruit, onboard, and train new engineers at Zapier. This might involve tweaking the skills portions of interviews, or writing better documentation.

Hi there! 👋 Are you passionate about building reliable systems that help data teams thrive at scale?

Zapier is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our Data Platforms team. In this role, you’ll work alongside our existing SRE to level up the reliability, observability, and operational maturity of the modern data stack that powers internal products and customer facing across Zapier. From orchestrating workflows in Databricks to tuning performance in our data infrastructure, you’ll play a key role in keeping our data ecosystem healthy, scalable, and developer-friendly.

About You

-------------

You’re experienced, but still growing. You have 4+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering roles. You’ve worked in production environments, solved real incidents, and shipped platform improvements—but you’re also eager to learn and grow alongside a thoughtful, distributed team.

You know the cloud—and how to keep it healthy. You’re familiar with cloud-native architecture and services (we use AWS). You’ve helped teams build and maintain reliable workflows using tools like Terraform and you understand the tradeoffs behind infrastructure decisions.

You’re observability- and incident-driven. You know how to detect issues before customers feel them. You believe in rich metrics, structured logs, and smart alerting. You’ve contributed to incident response processes and helped teams learn from failure.

You bring an automation- and AI-first mindset. You’re not afraid to write code (Python, TypeScript, or Bash are all great) and believe deeply in Infrastructure as Code. You lean into tools, automation, and AI to reduce toil, improve deployment confidence, and free up teams to focus on meaningful work. You're are open to experimenting with AI tools to decrease toil and increase your impact.

You’re a strong communicator in a remote-first world. You can clearly describe problems, propose solutions, and write clean documentation others can follow. You’re comfortable collaborating asynchronously with cross-functional teams and support partners.

You’ve used AI tooling for work or personal use—or you are willing to dive in and learn fast. You explore new tools, workflows, and ideas to make things more efficient, and are eager to deepen your understanding of AI and use it regularly.

Things You’ll Do

--------------------

  • Level up reliability for our modern data stack – Help support and evolve our data platforms (including Databricks, Airflow and our LLMOps tooling) with reliability best practices and clear operational standards.
  • Improve observability and alerting – Partner with engineering teams to implement monitoring and alerting that supports ownership, reduces noise, and improves incident response metrics like MTTD (Mean Time to Detect) and MTTR (Mean Time to Resolve).
  • Automate and optimize operations – Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code, job orchestration logic, and internal tooling that reduce manual intervention and improve system resilience.
  • Participate in on-call and incident response – Share in our on-call rotation (~one week per quarter) and work alongside others to improve postmortems, retrospectives, and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to security and compliance readiness – Help evolve our access controls, auditability, and deployment practices in support of growing needs like sensitive Data security compliance.
  • Be a partner, not a gatekeeper – Work closely with Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and Backend Engineers to ensure platforms are reliable and empowering to use.

Bonus Points

------------

(Not required, but nice to have!)

  • Experience with tools like Airflow, Databricks, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Databricks administration, cost governance, or workspace security
  • Familiarity with data lake architecture (e.g., Delta Lake, Unity Catalog)
  • Exposure to compliance-driven environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.)
  • Demonstrated AI fluency—whether it’s applying AI for troubleshooting, documentation, automation, or infrastructure tooling

Job Posted: 2/10/25

Location: Americas time zones (Atlantic, Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific)

Hi there!

As Zapier continues to scale our mission to democratize automation, we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the cutting-edge Functions team. This team is building a new, code-first product that enables developers to create powerful, flexible workflows by combining the simplicity of Zapier's platform with the full control of code.

As part of this team, you'll tackle exciting technical challenges, like designing scalable systems, improving the developer experience, and enabling seamless interaction with Zapier's library of over 7,000 integrations. You'll be at the forefront of creating tools that make automation accessible to technical users, giving them the flexibility to build exactly what they need—all while Zapier handles the hosting, authentication, and infrastructure.

If you're passionate about building elegant solutions for developers and want to work on a product that's defining the future of automation, we'd love to hear from you!

About You

-------------

You have 6+ years of experience with a minimum of 2 years at a senior level. You've dedicated at least 4 of those years to crafting and refining web-based software products.

Required Technical Skills/Experience:

  • Strong expertise in using TypeScript and Node.js for building backend services.
  • Strong system design and architectural skills.
  • Strong communications skills, including experience talking directly to customers.
  • Experience architecting and maintaining production infrastructure in AWS.

Nice-to-Have Technical Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with the Python ecosystem and execution model.
  • Experience managing execution of untrusted workloads in a controlled and safe fashion
  • Familiarity with LSP (Language Server Protocol) systems
  • Experience with observability tooling, particularly related to operational reliability
  • Awareness of security principles and experience securing publicly accessible sensitive systems
  • Experience building event driven systems
  • Expertise in AWS Lambda, Docker, and other containerization tooling

Non-technical skills/experience:

  • You live by the "always ship new code" mantra. You take pleasure in releasing code frequently, knowing that every deployment brings with it enhancements that directly impact users. You believe in frequent, iterative improvement.
  • You value collaboration. You understand that building software is a team sport, and you enjoy working as part of a tight-knit team. You’re happy to pitch in and help the team, whether by reviewing code, pairing on a tricky problem, or just thinking about how to solve the challenges we’re facing.
  • You're driven by results, not by process. In the ever-changing landscape of software development, you recognize that while processes are essential, they should never overshadow the end goal: delivering exceptional value.
  • You care about the 'why' more than the 'what'. If priorities seem nebulous or not optimized, you're confident and proactive in seeking clarity, ensuring that the team's efforts align with the broader vision. Misalignments don't escape you, and you're quick to flag them.
  • You're intentional and articulate. Every design choice you make stems from a place of intentionality. You're not one to follow the herd blindly. Instead, you advocate robustly for your design choices and implementation strategies.
  • You love teaching. You enjoy sharing knowledge with the rest of your team and building a culture of continuous growth. You have experience coaching engineers to help them level up.
  • You're an avid learner. The tech world's constant evolution excites you. Always on the prowl for the next big thing, you're quick to immerse yourself in the intricacies of its implementation.
  • You’ve used AI tooling for work or personal use—or you are willing to dive in and learn fast. You explore new tools, workflows, and ideas to make things more efficient, and are eager to deepen your understanding of AI and use it regularly.

Things You’ll Do

--------------------

The Functions team is a small, nimble team working to scale a new product from hundreds to tens-of-thousands of users. As such, a successful applicant will likely get the opportunity to work on a variety of project, including:

  • Participate in customer calls, understand pain-points, and work with your peer engineers and EPD (Engineering, Product, Design) leadership to suggest possible technical solutions to the wider team.
  • Build features that allow customers to more easily handle errors in their automations by merging Zapier integrations existing error processing routines with language-native error handling.
  • Work on improving our Functions execution model, such that we can run arbitrarily long untrusted integrations safely and efficiently.
  • Build excellent migration tooling, so customers code is automatically updated as integrations change in the Zapier system.
  • Leverage our observability tooling to track and understand user pain-points. Turn these insights into actionable tasks for the team.

You’ll also have the opportunity to specialize in a variety of areas of the Zapier codebase. Focusing on a specialization will not limit your growth at Zapier as we believe that each engineer brings a unique perspective and can contribute in all areas. We encourage collaboration and will frequently have engineers contribute across teams to assist with projects.

We're looking for a technical Engineering Manager to join our Revenue Zone - a critical area focused on building customer-centric revenue systems that power Zapier’s monetization and subscription experience.

As an Engineering Manager in the Revenue Zone, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for building, scaling and optimizing our revenue/monetization systems. Your team’s mission includes:

  • A comprehensive catalog system that defines all customer offerings (Plans, Add-ons, and more).
  • A scalable billing platform to support reliable monetization of Zapier’s products.
  • Enhanced multi-product purchasing experiences with seamless checkout.
  • Global tax compliance capabilities to meet regional regulations.
  • A frictionless payment experience that drives Zapier’s subscription business.
  • A robust subscription management system that enables flexible pricing and packaging.

You'll collaborate with Finance, Data, Product, Design and Support teams to ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business goals.

About You

-------------

  • You are an effective team builder and a skilled engineering leader. This isn't your first rodeo. You have at least two years of experience managing a cross-functional team of engineers comprising frontend, full stack, and backend. You know how to hire, train, and develop engineers from all backgrounds. You understand the benefits of building a diverse and inclusive engineering team.
  • You’re a collaborator. You leverage your strong communication skills to align on a shared vision and strategy with your Product and Design partners, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and working towards common goals. Your strategic approach and transparent communication style foster trust and alignment across teams, equipping them to handle changes and challenges effectively.
  • You have deep customer empathy and thrive in the details.  Zapier’s revenue systems power every purchase and maintain every customer relationship. With a customer-centric approach, you work with your team to improve the customer experience and participate in programs to enhance our product offerings.
  • You’ve shipped production code and you know what great code looks like. You contribute to design discussions, review code, and establish quality standards for your team. A solid grasp of engineering skills is essential, along with a practical understanding of software development practices. Understanding the current state, anticipating future developments, and maintaining a strategic view is important to you.
  • You relish change and seek leverage.  Zapier is growing and we’re adapting our revenue systems with future growth in mind.  You’re comfortable leading change.  These changes will replace whole systems and move ownership in ways that may significantly alter the mission of your team.  You see an opportunity to build a more capable company and can navigate short-term uncertainty
  • You have excellent communication skills. You regularly work with engineers and other stakeholders from various disciplines, balancing engineering concerns, such as technical debt, with product concerns. Ideally, you find solutions that address both the team and user needs but if not, help build understanding around difficult decisions.
  • You have prior experience or a strong interest in revenue systems, including subscription management, invoicing, and payment processing platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, or Square - covering integration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • You’ve used AI tooling for work or personal use—or you are willing to dive in and learn fast. You explore new tools, workflows, and ideas to make things more efficient, and are eager to deepen your understanding of AI and use it regularly.

Things You'll Do

--------------------

  • Work closely with your product and design peers to deliver customer and company value.
  • Develop effective ways to communicate, monitor, and lead your team through weekly one-on-ones and team meetings.
  • Keep the leadership team informed on your team’s progress and challenges in ways that are easy and enjoyable to receive, like one-on-one's, update posts, and regular team hangouts.
  • Build rapport with each member of the Engineering Team and support them through coaching and mentorship to help level up their skills, and performance management when necessary.
  • Participate in code reviews, learning and spreading technical knowledge throughout Zapier -- moving knowledge to documentation where appropriate.
  • Maintain a focus on our customers by using customer feedback to guide your team through tradeoffs. You’ll help your team understand when to be rigid on quality and how to be flexible and create with scope.
  • Work directly with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our systems are serving their needs.  This could include Support, Accounting, Finance, and strategic initiative leads.

How to Apply

----------------

At Zapier, we believe that diverse perspectives and experiences make us better, which is why we have a non-standard application process designed to promote inclusion and equity. We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description. All we ask is that you answer a few in-depth questions in our application that would typically be asked at the start of an interview process. This helps speed things up by letting us get to know you and your skillset a bit better right out of the gate. Please be sure to answer each question; the resume and CV fields are optional.

After you apply, you are going to hear back from us—even if we don’t see an immediate fit with our team. In fact, throughout the process, we strive to never go more than seven days without letting you know the status of your application. We know we’ll make mistakes from time to time, so if you ever have questions about where you stand or about the process, just ask your recruiter!

Zapier is an equal-opportunity employer and we're excited to work with talented and empathetic people of all identities. Zapier does not discriminate based on someone's identity in any aspect of hiring or employment as required by law and in line with our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity. Our code of conduct provides a beacon for the kind of company we strive to be, and we celebrate our differences because those differences are what allow us to make a product that serves a global user base. Zapier will consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, consistent with applicable laws.

Zapier is committed to inclusion. As part of this commitment, Zapier welcomes applications from individuals with disabilities and will work to provide reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodations are needed to participate in the job application or interview process, please contact jobs@zapier.com
