Who We Are

Murmuration is a nonprofit organization that amplifies the power of civic engagement by providing data, digital tools, and research-driven insights to community-focused organizations so that together we can create an America where everyone can lead healthy, free, and dignified lives.

Every day, people are trying to shape our future for the better. Fighting for water that’s safe to drink. Schools that serve students equitably. Gun laws that make sense. And rallying people who care like we do. And yet too often, the skillful organizers working to mobilize communities lack access to technology that could supercharge their efforts. Knocking on every door instead of knowing which will open most easily. And going up against outside interests that have half the heart, but twice the tools.

In communities across America, Murmuration’s partners are leveraging our data, tools, and insights to help thousands of organizers orchestrate millions of individual people to do big things together. Demand big things together. To create the world they want. Together.

About the Position

Do you see yourself as a mentor, a technical steward, a partner in impact, and a builder?

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be one of our most senior individual contributors and the tech lead for one of our cross-functional pods, so you will play a key role in shaping our success! You’ll help us drive forward thinking engineering strategies and build the future of our Organizer app platform that empowers communities nationwide. You’ll combine your technical expertise with systems thinking, bringing your collaborative leadership mindset to problem solving, helping us build scalable, resilient systems that make a real impact on people’s lives.

Job Level: IC5

What You’ll Do

  • Be a driver: Decide on key architecture changes and features that help us design, build, and maintain components that build user trust. Your systems thinking will help us make smart long-term decisions and mitigate risks
  • Be a teacher: Share your technical expertise by helping us evolve our engineering best practices for code reviews, design, and development execution
  • Be a mentor: Share your approach to fostering an engineering culture that helps us all grow as technical and inclusive leaders
  • Be a collaborator: Work closely with our cross-functional teams such as Product, Design, and Data Engineering, to align technical work with product requirements that thoughtfully address user pain points and make our product more accessible for all (WCAG compliance)
  • Be a technical steward: Lead release planning and operational readiness by helping the team build confidence in managing builds, deployments, and maintenance for mission-critical features. Your guidance will ensure reliability, stability, and shared ownership of our systems
  • Be an advocate: Champion changes that matter such as continuous improvement, infrastructure upgrades that serve us at scale, performance optimizations, and technical debt reduction

If you love combining hands-on engineering with strategic impact and you’re excited to lead through code, mentorship, and collaboration, this is the place where you’ll thrive.

Requirements

  • Proven experience building modern JavaScript/TypeScript solutions (Angular, React, or similar)
  • Proven experience designing APIs and relational data models (GraphQL or equivalent)
  • Proven experience leading feature delivery and managing releases in production systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical partners
  • Demonstrated mentorship and technical leadership in team settings
  • Familiarity with accessible web standards (WCAG compliance)

Nice to Haves

  • Formal degree optional; we welcome candidates from nontraditional or retraining paths
  • Experience in civic-tech, nonprofit, or data-driven social-impact products
  • Familiarity with design systems and tools (Figma or similar)

Our Culture of Care

We work hard to create a culture of care to ensure that our staff are best equipped to lead happy, healthy, and balanced lives. To that end, we offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes:

---------------

We are on the lookout for a Data Scientist to join our Quick Commerce team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

We are redefining how customers experience quick commerce. You’ll help build technology that scales our non-food offerings, reaching new market segments and driving revenue growth. By innovating within our Quick Commerce Team, you’ll make Delivery Hero the go-to platform for a broad range of products, helping us grow faster and deliver more value to customers around the world.

At Content & Assortment, we are building the AI engine that powers our global product catalog. We want every product to be perfectly described, categorized, and presented to our customers. As a Data Scientist, you will work side-by-side with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Software Engineers to design, build, and deploy ML models that automate content creation and power a smarter product assortment.

This is a role for someone who has a strong background in applied ML, particularly in NLP, classification, or recommendation systems, and is hungry to solve complex catalog problems at scale. You will drive hypotheses, validate model accuracy, and bring ML-powered services for attribute enrichment, product categorization, and assortment curation into production with real business impact.

If you’re a strong coder with a problem-solving mentality and thrive in high-scale applied ML problems, we’d love to talk.

Your mission:

  • Design, experiment, and deploy AI/ML models/Agents to automate the enrichment and moderation of product attributes at scale.
  • Drive experimentation: formulate hypotheses, validate model performance , analyze business impact, and turn insights into production-ready models.
  • Develop and provide ML models to intelligently curate the product assortment, including attribute extraction, product categorization, category tree recommendations, and the curation of high-impact featured categories.
  • Keep yourself up to date and apply state-of-the-art models (e.g., in NLP, deep learning, classification, LLMs/AI agents) to see what truly works best for our catalog automation.
  • Collaborate closely with MLEs and Engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and fast in production.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision of catalog automation and AI-driven assortment, while delivering short-term wins that unlock measurable business impact.

Qualifications

--------------

What you need to be successful:

  • 3+ years of industry experience applying Data Science and Machine Learning in production, ideally in large-scale consumer-facing applications.
  • Deep expertise in building and deploying ML models, particularly in Natural Language Processing (NLP), classification, recommendation systems and LLMs or agentic frameworks.
  • Strong statistical foundations and ability to distinguish signal from noise in large-scale experimentation and model validation.
  • Excellent engineering skills: write clean, maintainable Python code; experience bringing ML models into production with best practices for observability, monitoring, and performance.
  • Experience with large-scale ML model validation, experimentation, and A/B testing.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and product stakeholders, translating business problems into data science solutions.

Nice to have:

  • PhD in AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Experience scaling catalog automation or content generation systems across multiple markets and heterogeneous platforms.
  • Experience in designing or building Agentic AI systems.
  • Experience in fine tuning Large Language Models.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
  • Contributions to the data science community (conference talks, papers, OSS).

Job Description

---------------

We are on the lookout for a Senior Data Scientist to join our "Quick Commerce Growth Product Line” on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

Be part of redefining how customers experience quick commerce. You’ll help build technology that scales our non-food offerings, reaching new market segments and driving revenue growth. By innovating within our Quick Commerce Team, you’ll make Delivery Hero the go-to platform for a broad range of products, helping us grow faster and deliver more value to customers around the world.

At Quick Commerce, we are building the next generation of ranking and personalization systems to power our global quick commerce business. We want every customer to have a truly personalized experience – from the very first search to the final checkout – enriched with live signals that reflect their real-time needs.

As a Senior Data Scientist (Affordability Intelligence Team), you will work side-by-side with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Software Engineers to design, experiment with, and deliver advanced ranking solutions deployed across dozens of countries and millions of customers.

This is a role for someone who has already worked on user-facing personalization, causal inference, and time series problems at scale and is hungry to push boundaries further. You will drive hypotheses, run A/B tests on customer-facing uplift models, and bring robust causal and time-series architectures into production with real business impact. If you’re a strong coder with a hacker mentality and thrive in high-scale applied ML and econometric problems, we’d love to talk.

Your mission:

  • Design, experiment, and deploy customer-facing personalisation and uplift models (including personalisation via ranking) to measurably improve affordability perception and user experience at global scale.
  • Drive experimentation: formulate hypotheses, analyze A/B tests, and turn insights into production-ready solutions for better targeting and incentive deployment.
  • Apply advanced time series and causal inference techniques to model and forecast the supply and demand of incentives.
  • Leverage live user signals and context to make affordability interventions more adaptive and dynamic.
  • Keep yourself up to date and apply state-of-the-art causal and machine learning models to see what truly works best for our customers and business.
  • Collaborate closely with MLEs and Engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and fast in production.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision of affordability intelligence and personalisation at QC, while delivering short-term wins that unlock measurable business impact.
  • Mentor and inspire peers, raising the quality bar for Data Science in causal inference and personalization across the tribe.

Qualifications

--------------

  • 5+ years of industry experience applying Data Science and Machine Learning in production, ideally in large-scale consumer-facing applications.
  • Experience with user-facing personalization systems (including ranking, retrieval, or recommendation systems) – ideally in e-commerce or consumer-tech.
  • Expertise in causal inference and uplift modeling for user targeting and intervention strategies.
  • Strong statistical foundations and ability to distinguish signal from noise in large-scale experimentation.
  • Excellent engineering skills: write clean, maintainable Python code; experience bringing ML models into production with best practices for observability, monitoring, and performance.
  • Experience with large-scale experimentation and A/B testing platforms.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and product stakeholders, translating business problems into data science solutions.
  • A hacker mentality: pragmatic, hands-on, and comfortable iterating fast to get ranking solutions live.

Nice to have:

  • Experience scaling personalization and causal systems across multiple markets and heterogeneous platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
  • Contributions to the data science community (conference talks, papers, OSS).
  • Experience mentoring other team members and driving knowledge sharing.
