Job Description

---------------

We are on the lookout for a Senior Data Scientist to join our "Quick Commerce Growth Product Line” on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

Be part of redefining how customers experience quick commerce. You’ll help build technology that scales our non-food offerings, reaching new market segments and driving revenue growth. By innovating within our Quick Commerce Team, you’ll make Delivery Hero the go-to platform for a broad range of products, helping us grow faster and deliver more value to customers around the world.

At Quick Commerce, we are building the next generation of ranking and personalization systems to power our global quick commerce business. We want every customer to have a truly personalized experience – from the very first search to the final checkout – enriched with live signals that reflect their real-time needs.

As a Senior Data Scientist for Ranking, you will work side-by-side with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and Software Engineers to design, experiment with, and deliver advanced ranking solutions deployed across dozens of countries and millions of customers.

This is a role for someone who has already worked in the ranking domain at scale and is hungry to push boundaries further. You will drive hypotheses, run experiments, and bring multi-stage ranking architectures into production with real business impact. If you’re a strong coder with a hacker mentality and thrive in high-scale applied ML problems, we’d love to talk.

Your mission:

  • Design, experiment, and deploy multi-stage ranking systems that improve relevance, personalization, and user experience at global scale.
  • Drive experimentation: formulate hypotheses, analyze A/B tests, and turn insights into production-ready ranking models.
  • Leverage live user signals and context to make ranking more adaptive and dynamic.
  • Keep yourself up to date and apply state-of-the-art ranking models to see what truly works best for our customers.
  • Collaborate closely with MLEs and Engineers to ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and fast in production.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision of ranking and personalization at QC, while delivering short-term wins that unlock measurable business impact.
  • Mentor and inspire peers, raising the quality bar for Data Science in ranking across the tribe.
  • Contributions to the data science community (conference talks, papers, OSS).
  • Experience mentoring other team members and driving knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

--------------

Your heroic skills:

  • 5+ years of industry experience applying Data Science and Machine Learning in production, ideally in large-scale consumer-facing applications.
  • Deep expertise in ranking (multi-stage pipelines, learning-to-rank, retrieval, blending, personalization) – ideally in e-commerce, ads, search, or recommendation systems.
  • Strong statistical foundations and ability to distinguish signal from noise in large-scale experimentation.
  • Excellent engineering skills: write clean, maintainable Python code; experience bringing ML models into production with best practices for observability, monitoring, and performance.
  • Experience with large-scale experimentation and A/B testing platforms.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and product stakeholders, translating business problems into data science solutions.
  • A hacker mentality: pragmatic, hands-on, and comfortable iterating fast to get ranking solutions live.

Nice to have:

  • Experience scaling ranking systems across multiple markets and heterogeneous platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred).
  • Contributions to the data science community (conference talks, papers, OSS).
  • Experience mentoring other team members and driving knowledge sharing.

We are on the lookout for aSenior Technical Product Manager to join the Item Navigation Domain on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

Item Navigation domain within QC Merchandising is at the forefront of enabling customers to seamlessly find relevant products within our Q-Commerce Platforms. The Navigation squad is responsible for building a Tier 1 service that sits on a critical path between Global Services and products we build centrally, and our Global Platforms that consume the data for display to end customers. Our mission is to build reliable and scalable technical systems that maximize item discoverability within various category listings, collections, and navigation paths across different Shops and Partners in Q-Commerce. The team is responsible for the core services and APIs that power category browsing and item discovery through structured navigation, ensuring high performance and availability for millions of daily interactions. We are seeking a strong Senior/Principal Technical Product Manager to lead the development of Tier 1 systems in the Navigation team, positioned within QC Merchandising value stream in the Commercial Tribe. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data science, analytics, and platform teams, to define, prioritize, and deliver highly technical product solutions that directly impact user experience and business metrics related to category browsing and item discoverability within curated collections. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical architecture, data models, and API approaches for our core navigation systems, ensuring they are scalable, robust, and future-proof. A key aspect of this role is strong collaboration with product peers and stakeholders from other relevant teams and domains, such as Catalog, Content/PIM, AdTech, Item Ranking, and Promo Domain, to ensure a cohesive and optimal customer journey.

You will co-define key performance indicators (KPIs) for system health, latency, and throughput, collaborating with engineering to ensure monitoring and alerting are robust.
  • Partner with Engineering & Data Science: Collaborate closely with engineering and data science to implement scalable navigation systems and leverage data pipelines that support adaptive data strategies for displaying collections and categories. You will be expected to participate in technical design discussions, understand system architecture, challenge assumptions, and provide clear technical requirements.
  • User-Centric Approach: Develop a deep understanding of customer journeys for discovery, identify opportunities to improve item discoverability within categories and collections, and translate user insights into actionable navigation strategies.
  • Experimentation & Testing: Drive A/B testing and experimentation to validate hypotheses, optimize the presentation and discoverability of items through navigation, and assess the impact of new display strategies. You will also define and monitor the technical setup for experimentation, ensuring data integrity and reliable results.

  • Cross-Functional Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with stakeholders across Platforms, Data, UX, AdTech, Catalog, Content/PIM, Item Ranking, Promo Domain, and commercial teams to align navigation strategies. You will be able to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, influencing decision-making and building consensus.

Qualifications

--------------

  • Product & Domain Expertise: 5+ years in product management with a strong focus on highly technical data products that power search, category listings, collections, and navigation structures—ideally within Q-Commerce, e-commerce, or marketplace environments. You should demonstrate a proven ability to lead technical product initiatives from conception to launch.
  • Technical Acumen & Leadership: Proven ability to build products that leverage large datasets and rigorous experimentation (A/B testing) to optimize discoverability and engagement within navigation paths. You should be comfortable driving technical conversations with engineering teams, understanding system architecture, API design, and data flow. Experience defining technical specifications and working with distributed systems is highly valued.
  • Technical Fluency: Strong understanding of data pipelines and content aggregation logic; comfortable working closely with engineers, data scientists, and backend teams. You should be able to discuss trade-offs in technical implementations, understand the implications of different architectural choices, and guide the team towards scalable solutions for navigation display.

Company Overview

====================

Deepgram is the leading voice AI platform for developers building speech-to-text (STT), text-to-speech (TTS) and full speech-to-speech (STS) offerings. 200,000+ developers build with Deepgram’s voice-native foundational models – accessed through APIs or as self-managed software – due to our unmatched accuracy, latency and pricing. Customers include software companies building voice products, co-sell partners working with large enterprises, and enterprises solving internal voice AI use cases. The company ended 2024 cash-flow positive with 400+ enterprise customers, 3.3x annual usage growth across the past 4 years, over 50,000 years of audio processed and over 1 trillion words transcribed. There is no organization in the world that understands voice better than Deepgram.

Company Operating Rhythm

============================

At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.

Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.

Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.

Opportunity:

----------------

Deepgram is hiring a Chief of Staff to help the CEO and Executive Leadership Team turn strategy into consistent execution. As the company grows quickly, this role will design and drive the operating rhythms that keep priorities clear, goals measurable, and leaders aligned. Equal parts strategic partner, operator, and force multiplier, you’ll help us move fast without breaking the wrong things—driving clarity across priorities, strengthening planning and accountability systems, and freeing the CEO and leadership team to focus on the highest-impact work.

This role sits between a founder’s associate and a traditional Chief of Staff: strategic enough to see around corners, operational enough to ensure the day-to-day work actually gets done.

Who You Are

---------------

  • Background in startups, consulting, strategy, or operations, ideally with exposure to technical or AI-driven businesses.
  • Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and shift easily between technical and business topics.
  • Not afraid of tough discussions and holding people accountable to outcomes.
  • Communicate with clarity and precision at every level of the organization.
  • Relentlessly organized with strong project-management instincts and the ability to keep others two steps ahead.
  • High-judgment operator who handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Builder mindset: you don’t just flag gaps—you close them.

Why This Role Matters

---------------------

Deepgram moves fast, and this role ensures we stay focused on what matters most. By tightening goal-setting, aligning leadership, and making progress visible, you’ll help the company scale without losing speed or discipline.

This is a career-accelerating opportunity with visibility across the entire business and a direct impact on the future of voice AI.

Backed by prominent investors including Y Combinator, Madrona, Tiger Global, Wing VC and NVIDIA, Deepgram has raised over $85 million in total funding. If you're looking to work on cutting-edge technology and make a significant impact in the AI industry, we'd love to hear from you!

Deepgram is an equal opportunity employer. We want all voices and perspectives represented in our workforce. We are a curious bunch focused on collaboration and doing the right thing. We put our customers first, grow together and move quickly. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, pregnancy, parental status, genetic information, political affiliation, or any other status protected by the laws or regulations in the locations where we operate.

We are happy to provide accommodations for applicants who need them.
